:confused:On my lcr i have now had this on 3 occasions. It seems to happen every other time i start the engine.

It happenes from cold when i first start the engine.

When i turn the engine on, the red light on the water temp gauge goes on and it beeps. It will then stay on.

It seems if i turn the engine off and on again it ususally will stay off.

I have checked the water levels in the car and they seem fine.

Anyone got any ideas what this may mean?

I had this on mine,

just get a screwdriver with a flat blade and scrape it along the two probes. You'll feel it scraping stuff off them - this is limescale i think.

I didn't scrape much off, just scraped the top (obviously couldn't get underneath with a screwdriver), and mine hasn't beeped again since. Did that about 2 weeks ago.

Ideally i guess you need a toothbrush or something, to really give them a good clean, but the screwdriver method worked a treat for me!

A lot of people just replace the coolant bottle, since the sensor is built in, but try this first as it saves the hassle.

A faulty waterpump can also cause this, I had a perfectly good sensor and it happened, also rises when you drive above say, 60mph.

yea check u temp as u increase ur speed above 50 if the temp goes spazy its the water pump, n u mite as well get the belt done at the same time but it sounds like the bottle prongs need cleaning!
