Removing mirror covers on 2009 ibiza

hi mates

i am trying to find a solution to remove without harming the mirror covers to have them painted in piano black or silver grey.

first of all put something large and soft on the ground to catch the mirror cover in case you drop it. put your fingers between the cover and mirror and pull as hard as possible and should come of, have changed my car and daughter covers seem to come of easy but did drop one cover and damaged it.
