strange.... using a small halfords professional socket set I could get to all the retaining nuts on the ATP one?

When you say small what do you mean? I can't get a socket or spanner in. I'll have a look round Halfords today.

I've asked Star what they used to tighten them up - although I'm not holding my breath for a helpful response.

im taking my atp manni off next week, so definatly keeping a keen eye on this thread

hope CR do a good job for you rob

CR Turbos just phoned me to say the turbo is being collected this afternoon.

I want to take the manifold off and send it off to Zircotec to be thermally coated, or even fit a tubular JBS manifold although I'm still not convinced it won't crack!

why you are not convinced it wont crack Rob, I dont believe there has been any reports of any JBS manifolds cracking

the only report was a possible one cracking, but that was due to worn out engine mounts on an ibiza which was causing too much flex on the downpipe and a leak to occur between the manifold and downpipe and a failure in the gasket I believe

I have.

Feel, AEB engines are longitudnal engines, that THS one is for transverse, if i was to get a transverse mani it would be that THS one, i've seen it, i know someone who has it and has had the ATP one and reckons the quality is the same, if not better.

you have had a cracked JBS mani? well I am surprised, but JBS refund or replace right?

Well, Turbo Dynamics have come straight back to me with info on the 2 hybrids they do for the K03S fitment, the second one interests me the most (for obvious reasons!), they are both K04's, the first one offers 240-250bhp but the second one offers:

MD445 - K04 turbo with Hi flow K04 compressor wheel, cnc machined compressor housing , large trim K04 turbine wheel, lightening of turbine wheel for faster ‘spool up’, cnc modified turbine housing, ported wastegate, uprated turbine seals. Other ‘blueprinting’ modifications. 12 psi Uprated actuator APPROX 280- 300 BHP. Absolute Maximum recommended boost level – 24-26 P.S.I.

Please Note: This application needs exact engine management settings, free flow exhaust system and front mount intercooler to achieve these horsepower figures, however, the exhaust manifold is the limiting factor in achieving any real worthwhile gains and would need to be changed to get maximum benefit from the turbocharger.

£1250 + VAT

A bolt on K04 capable of 300bhp .......... ! :D Sounds alot like the JBS04 TBH.

CR Turbos have collected my GT2X, they'll have it tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure the one A&M were selling was off a A4. I'm not positive that it kept the turbo in the same position (but would've thought so).

But it might be worth a look.

But, the THS one is a pretty good price - I recognise it from somwhere, and ISTR that reviews were positive.
