Seat Leon Cupra 290 - coolant issues

Hi,

I've just recently got a Leon Cupra 290, really enjoying driving it but 4 days ago the engine management light came on. After searching the forum it stated it wasnt a major issue and to take it to the garage asap. Due to work I haven't been able to drop it in and this morning the car over heated to 120 degrees. I looked under the bonnet and in my ignorance opened the coolant reservoir to be met with steam and the coolant pour our the top. Refilled the system and since then the system has been drinking coolant. And the car in continuing to over heat. The coolant light is coming on every 5 minutes. Does any one have any ideas what this could be and any advice (aside from taking it to a garage as I'm now sat in a motor ways service) on what may be the issue. As you can probably surmise I'm not very technical minded in respects to cars and any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Tom
