Fitted Rog's S3 upper brace today had to do a little bit of modding to get it to fit around bonnet lifter, but was only to remove about 2mm from brace.Used stainless bolts etc for rust prevention and after drilling holes hoovered up swarf and painted all bare metal with touch up kit.Looks factory ,not sure how its affected handling ,so will leave Rog to post that up. WARNING LEON R MODEL DOES NOT NEED LOWER BRACE ,IT IS FITTED AS STANDARD. .Fitted Samco hoses too TIP wasn't too bad a job ,but n/s hose didn't sit right so i removed a bit of pipe off each end too get it too fit ,but i took too much off one end :hide: ,managed to sort it out though with Shock Xe 's help.We urm forgot to reconnect Maf sensor though  so Rog had a fault code, but Mike sorted it with VAGCOM . Andy.

Hi Andy.
I don" t see that you have a bigger downpipe in your mods. If not, put immedately one.
In Greece, when with K03s, they put 70mm downpipe, and 63mm the rest.
Theodore.

When it stops raining... I'll head out and give the car a whirl to see how much effect the strut brace has had.

I'll tell you something though, I'm not sure if it's just the TIP, or whether it's because I changed my N75J for a H, but turbo lag? What turbo lag?? Tempted to try a J again now!!

And before you all start asking "how much" for my lower strut brace... I sold it to Steveo@cymru for a good price... well, I had to give him first refusal, seeing as we borrowed his garage!!

And Andy, forgetting to plug in my MAF!! Strange how it brought up my TCS/ESP Off light though...

So the S3 upper brace needs modding to fit???

Is this the same for my 2000 leon cupra?

Some people say it fits no problem others say it doesn't?

HELP
It does fit Kris ,its just i am very fussy,i only took a few mm off with a dremel and only where the bonnet lifter fits so it had a better clearance.I think it could vary between braces to be honest ,i seem to remember my brace on Rog's car had more clearance .Its no problem though and doesn't take take that long to do . Andy

I will try to take pics, when i fit mine or Steveo's. Andy
I was going to take some...

...but when I left to get the pizza for lunch, no strut brace on car. When I get back with pizza in my hand... the bolted down strut brace came in very handy to rest the pizza box on!!! :D

Will have to bring my camera for the next fitting session!!

S3 upper brace

I'm trying to figure out which part# to order from an Audi-dealer.
They're not very helpful, but can get me stuff, if I can come up with the part#s.

The #s in question are for the S3 upper brace.
On various forums I've found two part#s for the upper brace:
8L9 805 629 A
8L9 805 629 B
Which is the one to order?

According to Rog there's already a lower strut brace fitted to the LCR ;)
Correct, as I found to my expense!!

"normal" Cupra doesn't have the lower brace though.

I found out when I... or rather Andy went to fit the one I bought, and found an identical part in the way... so I sold it cheaply to Steveo@cymru, along with the bolts & crush nuts etc... well, it was easier than taking it back to Audi!

As for the upper brace part number, use the one from this thread... all I did!! Make sure when it arrives that it is the S3 one and not the TT one though - Andy had a few probs with parts & part numbers not matching!!

I could edit my first post?

Ah yes Ed, it was you that actually started this thread.. :D

Maybe I'm being lazy, but i just thought it worth while to edit the thread topic to add "audi S3 part # on page 7" or something similar. This way I/we don't have to go through 7 pages to actually find the part#.

Up to you though... :D

I've just put in a link to page 7 n my IE6 favorites... :D :D

We've had a few nice days now, so how does the car feel with it fitted Rog?
I don't know, I haven't asked it lately...

Oh, you mean to drive??

Well...

erm...

How can I put this...

The car doesn't really feel any different in one way, I mean, you don't get beghind the wheel, go 20 yards an say "oh yes, definately has an upper strut brace!"

Out on the road though, you do start noticing things - it changes direction quicker, and feels more planted when driving at the limits - understeer seems to be less as well, either that or it's easier to feel & control... probably a mixture of the two thinking about it!!

The car does feel better for having the brace on, but to be honest, I've forgotten what the car was like before really!! But I'd still say it's worth doing!!

Doesn't sound very helpful that, does it?!
