Surely this is some kind of joke? From what I can see you either need hands like a four year old, or you take the headlight out.

Its that tight I couldn't even get the dust cover back on the offside headlight. [:@]

Brilliant. Someone tell me I am useless and they did both in 10 minutes. :funk:

George

I did just did both sidelights in 5 minutes! I was dreaading it after reading plenty of threads about the amount of room. I also popped in some Osram Silverstars for the dipped lights. sides and dipped took 20 mins max! (I must have hands like a 4 yr old!)

Its the people with the bigger engines where its a problem mate... 1.2's/1.4's are really really easy (i used to have one), just a 2 minute job whereas the 1.8/1.9's have the engines taking up much more room. The battery for instance is about 1.5 inches behind the light fitting - its a beyatch!!

i know exactly what you mean. I got some ice blue bulbs from halfords from their normal bulbs section and they were covered ina blue film! Lasted about 1 month maz before they went really dim and i replaced for normal 501's. After experiencing the trounle with the sidelight behind the battery i dont think i want to have the hassle again... especially that the metal clip came out and i was using a pair of pliers to try and put it back in the holes (thos of you who have had this clip come out will know what i mean). once the clip is back in its tricky holding down the plastic casing and getting that dam clip over to clip the casing back into place!!.... a long screwdriver helped to keep the casing in place.

Those LEDs on autobulbs look like they do the job good - im going to get a pair when they come back into stock :)

i been scratching my head for ages wondering if both my side light bulbs have gone pretty much at the same time or if it was a fuse.... i need to replace both the bubs i guess but its such a nightmare i cant even get my hand into the drivers side light housing and dont fancy taking the bumper off is it just a right awakward job or just small hands needed?

my hands aren't small and i could do it - its just fiddly and very awkward! a pair of 'long nosed' pliers helped get the clip off and put it back after

Aaah bigger engines = less room. Yeah pleanty of room on my crappy 1.4! Not got chance to see my led sides and Silverstars in action yet, when i checked the headlights were working they looked as yellow as my old ones (supposed to be white?)but that was in the daylight , the white sidelights were defo White though (thank goodness, i don't like blue) the night is approaching as we speak.

It wont be a fuse mate, if it was, your rear lights wouldnt work - found that out last weekend?

Its true that sewing machine engines are smaller than the 1800 and 1900 sport models. :p
