I know a guy with the 1.6 16v version, can't remember if its the S or SX
He has a sprint boost fitted and did notice a difference. He also has a BMC CDA and CAT back exhaust

Dont know if they have thottle bodies, but surely its a electronic switch or pulse that starts the acceleration sequence off, so surely the switch under the accelertor pedal is just a mere relay...
Or maybe its the fact that theres a delay in the switch on a diesel for a reason?
Need to get a resident TDI vag tuner in here! lol

TDI's dont have a throttle body.
cant answer the rest though sorry.

I have one fitted and it does make a hell of a lot of difference. It does take a lot of getting used to at low speeds and at the lights though since the peddle is very sensitive to any movement. I expect it is nothing other then a resistor in a box type of thing though but nobody else makes anything like it so they have control of the market. I would have thought that a mapper could alter something in the ECU to do the same sort of thing as the accelerator is computer controlled but could be wrong.

a mapper can adjust the %'s of the throttle opening in relation to the %'s the pedal is depressed, see all REVO remaps;)
Thats why this doesn't work if you have this remap.

While the post is revived - for people with this would you recommend this on a standard LCR as im not looking to get mine mapped this year atleast? I think it sounds like something id like to try as i want more of a leap when accelerating and realistically its hardly expensive after other bits ive bought. Have any original/long term users binned theres after the inital grin factor? As a last question is there any chance these units can damage the engine at all?

Cheers
Adam

I've had mine for probably 2 years now and its still on.
I did worry about the handling in the winter as this does make the acceleration more savage[:@]
But I kept it on and bought proper winter tyres and had no problem what so ever.
This will stay on my car as I'm totally used to it, I would feel the car to be alot slower if I took it off now.
It is not possible for this to damage your car as all its doing is increasing the % open the throttle is per input %.
You'll love this as it feels a bit mental for a start.
If you do get a remap you might have to bin this as lots of companies will mess with the throttle % inputs to make the car feel even quicker, naughty!!!

Go for it, I suppose you could get them second hand now aswell;)

If you are not looking to get it mapped I would go for it.
I added it to Revo Stage 1 and it was mental, BUT then got Revo stage 2 and it backed off a bit - so the remaps do adjust the throttle input.
Whether it is doing anything above Revo stage 2 I don't know and cant be bothered taking the dash apart again to get it out and check... I am happy with it.

Depends on how/by whom yours is remapped.

(What I do know, is that good grammar goes a long way.)

my car is a seat leon 18 20 v turbo with REVO stage two and full stainless steel exhaust with sports cat ,pipercross induction kit ,up graded dump vavle , if that helps. I am very please with the revo but it could be better if this will improve it could be worth buying a sprint booster

TBH mate I wouldn't bother with one for your set up. You could get REVO to tweek your map to give you the same results for cheaper. this can be done in the mapping process and might have already been adjusted. If this has been adjusted on your car this sprint boost thing will make your car undriveable

I think adding it after a Revo stage 2 will be too much like a switch. I enjoyed it when I had it after stage 1 but it got a bit tiresome. I have kept it on the car because when it was remapped to stage 2 this unit will have been part of the circuit so if I take it off I will need the Revo setting changed.

on the mercedes forum someone done some test and all sprintbooster does is to increase the trottle input ie
no throttle= same
normal 1/4 throttle = 1/2 to 3/4 throttle
normal 1/2 throttle = full throttle
full throttle = full throttle
so it just makes the throttle open bigger for the input, hence differcult to drive at slow speed and nothing after half throttle as the car is at full throttle already
why not just add some weight to the gas pedel as it will have the same effect

Here's the full report posted on another forum for anyone who's interested. I think it's linked also in the Mercedes forum thread mentioned here earlier but I've linked it here anyway for quick and easy reference. :)

thats an interesting report and sounds exactly what I thought the unit was.

I need to be careful with my next comment as last time I got kicked off. But if anyone is interested in buying the one I took off my Mk1 Cupra I can place an ad on the for sales page and I am willing to sell it. I think thats the proper way of putting it on here under the for sale rules.

I found it made the car too agressive as I have a 1 year old getting wiplash !! but it was fun for the time it was actually on and easy to fit and take off again.
