strut brace

hey guys well i just took my strut brace off after some1 crashed in2 me the other day and theres what looks like a big dent in the top of the brace on the right hand side ( as if you were looking from in front of the car)

is that normal or is it damaged after the crash..... if any1 has any pics wud be a big help cheers

oh and its a brace you get from the dealers not an aftermarket one

As far as I know it shouldn't be bent ... is it painted/powder-coated - does the finish look cracked/damaged around the dent?

the finish looks perfect of it hense why im so confused... i will see if i can get a pic later when i finish work. oh the joys of people not watching where their going!

You got the insurance sorted for it? Was the strut-brace listed as a mod on your car - if so might be worth having a word to see if it's been damaged in the accident and get a replacement

If I was you I'd be concerned about the brace after a smash must've been hard if you thought it damaged the brace?!

Strut braces can actually cause more damage to a car in an accident. Say you got hit square on to your drivers side wing, the impact energy will be transferred through the strut brace to the suspension top mount on the other side.

I saw a car a while ago that had a small hit on one side (repairable) but was written off due to the damage to the top mount on the other side. The insurance company didn't pay out, as the strut brace wasn't declared on the guys insurance! Plus the guy also tried to cover it up by removing the brace before an assessor looked at the car.

to be honest it wasnt much of a crash happened at about 10 mph which is why i was confused about it, guess i should look at things i buy more often! lol

Yep I heard that scary, my insurance know about all my mods they charged me more for a strut brace than my alloys and will charge me the same price for lowered suspension too bit weird how they come up with price!
