I know, there is nothing wrong with spending money on the mk2, even full resprays, engine rebuilds, turbo kits, etc. But there is spending money.............and there is the list that Chris made. It does help when you do the work yourself, and keep the car running while doing it, because then you can always see all the improvements, but if you will be getting the garage to do the work then you don't even get to spend the time with the car. But hey, its still better spending the money on your beast Chris then pissing it up the wall every Wednesday outside Oceanna

its in this months PVW, check the readers rides part
cams arrived tuesday morning, ABF cams, so should make the ride a bit more fruity.
Begun relocating the battery, bought a new battery - £130, and am going to be making the box for it today.
i'm also putting my full interior back in, will be re-trimming the rear bench though, should be a spot of fun, will get pics up when it's done

what battery did you buy chris? i want to relocate mine to the inside of my car but im put off by the fact that they emmit some dangerous gas or something?
Thats if you get the type that you need to refill with ironised water! The sealed ones that don't need topping up are okay!
I'm gonna be doing it to mine soon, hopefully in the next week or two.
cos i want it to be a proper sleeper and comfy, i'll see how hard it is to refit the seats with the leather of the VR bench onto my ibiza bench

Two questions for ya chris and im sure you have heard them thousands of times before but bear with me:
First do you have this "shopping list" of parts that you have had to purchase for this conversion.
Secondly, advice needed. As a 2.0 16V owner i would use an M62 to charge mine (if i read this thread correctly) Does it matter what car it comes off of, as ive seen them floating around on ebay but they are off of chevys and pontiacs.
Sure i sound like a bit of a noob but just wanna make sure of everything before i take the plunge

the ones of the Pontiacs and the Chevvies are the M90 mate, far too big.
The proper M62s come off the mercedes AMGs, the SL55 AMG etc, they're the proper ones, you can use the kompressor off the "kompressor" mercs. That's a merecedes version of the Eaton M62

Back on the subject of which charger to use, i have come across an M62 which isnt from a merc. Im told its an aftermarket 4th gen production and ideal for conversions due to its smaller size.
