i carried out the eaton M45 charger conversion to my 2.0 16v ABF
seat ibiza last year.
I made customer brackets to mount the charger and used std inlet manifold, injectors, etc. This was for the 1st stage of the conversion.
When i 1st drive her after fitting the charger at 2.5k the ECU couldn't cope with the boost and used to massively underfuel. So at 2.5-3k the car would just nose dive like hitting a wall.
I fitted a larger pulley to the charger over the original to drop the boost down. According to the boost guage in car this gave about 2-3psi. The car ran fine like this, the only
problem being the boost would drop off to 0psi at 6k revs upwards.
I had her on the rollers and we used the adjustable fuel presure regulator id fitted to increas fuel pressure by 1 bar and with the lower abount of boost it fueled fine (slightly rich bottom end but perfect at 6k revs)
It produced 193bhp which i was pleased with as this figure was at 6,700rpm and boost guage was showing 0psi this high in rev range.
Therefore, i had a supercharged
ibiza for £500 (still on std internals, compression, etc.)
I carried out approx 3-4000 miles like this, including a long weekend trip of abuse to the nurburg ring with no problems what so ever, managing a sub 10 min lap too
This is a pic of the engine bay after the conversion:
I have now stripped the car back to a bare shell for a total rebuild to track spec. Therefore no interior, less weight, more power!
I plan to drop back to standard charger pulley (more boost) and fit larger injectors and possibly aftermarket management and an intercooler.
So there you go, with a little trial and error charging a
seat ibiza isn't that difficult! hope this helps!
