Surface Preparation

To most (if not all) this is the most basic of questions but i'm a "noob"

What do I use to prepare a surface for sticking trim onto? e.g. Door/vent trim, sill guards etc.

I assume it some sort of degreaser solution?

with the original SEAT brushed aluminium door trim,

you get an alcohol wipe with them, which did the trick for me!

so if you've got some vodka lyin about, and a cloth . . . . lol

Meths (the purple stuf) under a quid at B&Q IIRC

Or Halfords Electrical contact cleaner works well (green and yellow aerosol).

I heated the plastic up with a hairdryer on the doors as it was freezing and they seemed to adhere much better
