Thanks found it now, couldn't see it for looking!
So my details are:-
Device part no. 5QA035858
Hardware: H24
Software: 0241
Am I right in thinking I've a mib2 and can update using the Spanish site as per posts earlier on in this thread?
Do I need to purchase a tool to clear the error codes and if so what does everyone recommend?

Yes you have MIB2, I would recommend buying OBDeleven Pro but there may be someone nearby who could clear the error for you. You will need to update the software in stages, not sure what the next one would be after 0241.

Yep, as the post above says, you have a MIB2. I'm ready to upgrade mine, but have been waiting to find someone with an OBDeleven Pro.... just found out a friend at work has one! Just follow the Spanish site. Last time I looked, the links to the two update files showed a few errors, but keep going and you'll get to the 'download anyway' message.

Have a look at these two, they are two different videos for each upgrade stage:

I've got the MIB 2 High in my mk3 - apparently it uses a hard drive for mapping rather than SD cards. I've tried downloading the update from the SEAT site on an SD card, and putting the SD card into the slot in the glove box, and while the system knows it's there when I insert the card, it just can't update for some reason. Very confusing.

Can't be done by the user unless you have Mapcare or have the unit 'modified' as I did.

So what is mine then? The manual just says seat media system plus/ navi system
Select the Navigation screen then Setup - scroll down to Version info this will give you some details, try to post a pic.
Press Menu, settings, scroll down to System Info, this will show device part number, Hardware and software versions. Try to post a pic.

Going by the age of your maps I would say that you don't have the option of Full Link available as it's a pre mid 2015 car. Also I think you have the MIB1 unit.
With those map dates your car was probably built late 2014.
