You are fairly shifting with this project nice work, I have a friend who is doing basically the same thing, making his own chassis, maybe but I think its a hyabussa engine he’s dropping in, could be wrong though.

Its pretty clean at the moment although silicon sealant has made its way on pretty much every panel its such messy stuf! :D

Hayabusa is a beast i know of a guy with a K7 one near me and sounds mental plus the torque makes it more car like to drive. The R1 should be as quick to about 90ish but there are so many factors involved wheels, tyres, diff ratio and weight etc

Hoping so as the wiring that we have already finished like bypassing the exup motor, cyclelock, ignition barrel and other R1 bits, lengthening wires to sensors and trying to keep it all tidy is quite a nightmare. After the body is on which is still quite a big job is the exhaust, seats, suspension brakes and road wheels all which have been pre fitted so were hoping it will go together quickly. Only foreseable hard bit(touch wood), meaning it will take us a while is the dash electrics, lighting and SVA preperations. If its not done though its probably for the best saves me spending time and money on the Leon:p

Too late for that weve made, covered, chopped, lengthened connected everything already, final electircal touches are the buttons and gauges but ive already made power/acc/earth wires too them just need to connect them up soon as ive bought them but its going to cost an easy £200+ for push buttons and water/oil and fuel gauges.

New update

Been a bit busy recently so not spent much time on the cars but should be progressing a lot quicker as ive left my insurance job. With two jobs I had ended up doing almost 6-7 days a week but I also need something with greater prospects and money so now just part time working around interviews. Not sure how im going the run the LCR on what im getting though so hoping something bigger and better will come along shortly.

Any way on to the build
The engine has been eyeing up its new home since its been sitting in the corner of the garage. First thing though was to repaint some of the engine covers as they get slightly scuffed when the bikes are written off. We then mounted the engine to the craddle(loosely). We then took everything out side as it would be a bi@tch lifting to the chassis on tressles.

Lots of wiggling, filing and swearing we got it in.(my old gti in the background :))

With some mates helping us move the chassis and fitted engine back in doors we were able to get the sump off and fit out baffle plate to reduce the chance of starving the engine of oil when on track. Its a daunting job as to attach the baffle you have to drill and tap threads into the block. All went good and here are the results.

Knowing that the body tub fitment comes up pretty soon i started to make some templates to keep the cutting work as neat as possible. This required fitting the front suspension. Also pressed my ultra weight aluminum hubs with there new races, bearings and studs(not in pic)

Looks good just a shame it all had to come off again.

With the engine in we attached the throttle bodies and the entire engines wiring. We sat and pondered for probably an hour before we got an R1 haynes manual and wiring diagram as this was going to be tricky stuff.

This has been the most arduous task to date so much effort in working out what goes where and what needs to be cut, shorted, extended, replaced, removed etc plus at the same time making it look as neat as possible.

When you say notes you mean a book right! When i post the finished results it really wont show how much works gone into it but boy am i glad its done. Still got dash wiring left but surely a power, earth and illumintation wire shouldnt be too hard. What shapes the k11?

the pregnant rollerskate as i call it :) for years i have had this wierd fetish with wanting to chop the floor out of one and remove 8-10" out the body side and another 4" out the roof and stick a pair of bike engines in it

just one of those 100+ wierd 'n' wonderful ideas i have buzzing aroud in my head

it's caused by flashbacks to a mini clubman hillclimber thing i had a ride in the early 90's and the micra would look like a rounded version of it

proper oldskool - check out a few of these similar http://flickr.com/photos/wembley_1966/2418610134/in/photostream/

ive been round a track in one of these with an r1 engine, it stuck tike 5hit to a blanket, made my mates CTR look like it was standing still.

i looked at getting one, alot of fun for £13k.

£13k for an R1 i guess it could be if bought as a turn key car for that but you could have a nice busa lumped one for that much if done DIY. Mines only at £10k+ as i went for a few light weight and special bits - aluminium cortina front end and push rods, savage switches with full gauges and paddleshift mainly to make it all that much nicer once finished but it can all be done on a budget depends what you can do yourself, if you buy new/used, which kit you buy and what you want from the final project.

He did say it was a weird fettish :D. Ive got to say a pinto, zetec, cossie, SX or redtop lump would be much more suitable.
