New update
Been a bit busy recently so not spent much time on the cars but should be progressing a lot quicker as ive left my insurance job. With two jobs I had ended up doing almost 6-7 days a week but I also need something with greater prospects and money so now just part time working around interviews. Not sure how im going the run the LCR on what im getting though so hoping something bigger and better will come along shortly.
Any way on to the build
The engine has been eyeing up its new home since its been sitting in the corner of the garage. First thing though was to repaint some of the engine covers as they get slightly scuffed when the bikes are written off. We then mounted the engine to the craddle(loosely). We then took everything out side as it would be a bi@tch lifting to the chassis on tressles.
Lots of wiggling, filing and swearing we got it in.(my old gti in the background

)
With some mates helping us move the chassis and fitted engine back in doors we were able to get the sump off and fit out baffle plate to reduce the chance of starving the engine of oil when on track. Its a daunting job as to attach the baffle you have to drill and tap threads into the block. All went good and here are the results.
Knowing that the body tub fitment comes up pretty soon i started to make some templates to keep the cutting work as neat as possible. This required fitting the front suspension. Also pressed my ultra weight aluminum hubs with there new races, bearings and studs(not in pic)
Looks good just a shame it all had to come off again.
With the engine in we attached the throttle bodies and the entire engines wiring. We sat and pondered for probably an hour before we got an R1 haynes manual and wiring diagram as this was going to be tricky stuff.
This has been the most arduous task to date so much effort in working out what goes where and what needs to be cut, shorted, extended, replaced, removed etc plus at the same time making it look as neat as possible.
