hey, this may seem odd, but i was thinking of turbocharging or even supercharging my 1.4 sport, just because it would be different, has anybody done it? prices? and finally any big problems that would need to be addressed, i would only be running a very low boost, just want a bit of extra power which is hard to get in a n/a car..

wat you think?

cheers

very expensive, just get a FR, willprob cost more and will be slower when built!, engine transplant may be a better option but unless you can do it would be stupidly expensive! Leave it as it is or buy a FR!

Ive seen it done on a mk3 golf, but the ammount of work involved was enourmos, and so was the cost. As above, you're better off buying a fr/cupra if you are doing it purely for performance. If you want to do it as a project then go for it, but be prepared for a lot of work and costs, for little gain.

^^^^^ ditto. Variety is the spice of life.

You need to get self on wikipedia and get ya self proper gend up.

Might be worth getting ya head in some vw magazines and see what other people have done that's similar.

Gonna cost some serious pennies.

TSR used to import an italian kit for the 1.4 16v

it was expensive, and not all that quick

You'd be better off not spending the 4-5k it will cost and adding that to the part ex of your car & go pick something up that's better specced.

It's not the answer you want, but a 1.4T is still going to be lame.

160bhp isn't worth that kind of money!

This question always comes up every now and again.

As above, although I would point out that if you get a decent cold air feed and custom cat-back there are gains to be made.

Scroll down to the Ibiza on there, that is a 1.4 DAB 100bhp, running 131.4bhp from those mods. It was probably a very healthy Ibiza to begin with, but still its at least a 20bhp gain which isn't bad. And if you get a remap, could squeeze about 5bhp more.

Thats about it though unless you want to throw some serious money at it.

180bhp is good in an arosa

in an Ibiza it makes it just about alright. depends on power delivery & torque spread more than a headline figure...

That`s about right!
