why would the 007 give more power than the split R?

See this is why i should of stuck with a corsa haha
 
i believe cos it stops the turbo from stalling so much as more air is being recirculated so spools up quicker

a 007 (forge 007p) is a diverter valve that does not dump any of the air to atmosphere (all air is recirulated).
The split R is also forge but dumps to atmosphere a part of the air but recirculates most of it.

The ecu does not like air being dumped to atmosphere, so the split R is designed to create sound but keep enough air recirculated to keep the ECU happy.

Neither give you more power as neither are anything to do with power.
Compared to a standard DV they operate slightly better, faster and therefore may give a better gear change.
My advice would be the 007, its cheaper, does whats expected and the money you save can go to an induction kit which will create more sound using the 007 than you would from using a split R.

Regarding the post with someone who changed from a split R to a 007 which transformed the car, id say the split R was not set up correctly or had a leak, the differences between the two would only be during a gear change, and would be so small they would be very difficult to detect.
If a DV was leaking when on boost, (it should be closed/sealed at this point) then this would effect performance as you would be losing boost.

when i bought my lcr it had a forge 007 but i didnt know,so i bought a baily dump valve and fitted that,that was about a year ago and i have had no problems with the em light,but have been reading that it could cause problems,so is it possible to have the dump valve and put the forge 007 back and run them together? thanks,james

Is the Bailey DV recirc or atmos, as they do a recirc DV which works fine on our motors?
 
I've just bought a Miltek Hyperboost recirc DV 2nd hand off a guy on here, and currently have a Pipercross panel filter. If i smooth the airbox, do you think i should get a similar "loudness" as those of you with the forge recirc and induction kits?

not really, the smothing of the airbox is to improve airflow. You may see a slight increase in sound, but not as you would with a induction kit. The airbox is very much designed to be quiet being an OEM part.
 
ok, so it's not really the DV, but purely the induction kit side of things i'd need to get the sound. In that case, i'll save my effort lol
 
thing is if i get the 007 i wont get the hissing sount that i would get from the split r, sad as it sounds thats what i want
 
i had the split r for a few days m8...it sounded spot on, but then when i had my remap refunded and reverted to stock, i had problems with fault codes...but i suspect that was because they didn't adjust the dv.
 
just scouting around now to see if i can find one for under £120 and still havent found that many places that do the green cotton induction kits :(
 
ram air

I regret doing mine, if you dont keep on top of keeping it clean it makes the job so much harder,

ThATs a ram-air kit right?Ok ive got one,but when I attach the hose to feed in cold air,and under hard acceleration, the hose just squeezes in if you get what I mean?Whats the best way to avoid this problem?as I have a nice hole to put the pipe through to suck in the cold air.
 
when i had my ram-air filter i found that my car felt like it was being held back with the cold air feed connected. so i just pointed the cold air feed at the filter opening so it still got cold air and it ran a lot better, plus i got an angry induction noise too!

that looks like a dynatwist filter to me.

Yeah I know what you mean,infact I did that too,but then was worried that the pipe would fall down,so need to just fix it in the bay,thanx
