egg/sulphur is the smell from the cat, which hose was it that cam off alex do you know?

That's what I thought... is this just escaping out of the system or is it damage being casued? Mine was the top intercooler hose on the first IC but I don't know about Alex...

Yeah i know its from the hose coming off! It was the longest one thats runs from the manifold to the intercooler! it doesnt seem to be fitting properly or having enough flex in it to get a good seal

Egg smell is also associated with the coilpacks failing, checked the plugs? Always a good place to start

I didnt check the plugs as once the hose was back on it seemed ok? Although i will find out more at lunch when the diagnostics is run on it! I wonder if the fault has come back?

The smell is made because of the hose coming off, its all kind of panicks everything but it would take some time for the smell to be 'thrown out' once the car is running ok again, mine did! I kept getting wafts afterwards

I assume these are uprated hoses you're running? What clips do you have on them? The ones from the standard hoses?

did you change the hoses between the turbo and the intercooler too?

It sounds like the intercooler may have moved slightly so isn't lining up like before?

They are Samco hoses but the OE intercooler one back on now

The clips are the 'stronger' jubilee clips you can get

There is four hoses and two were put on, i still have the other two to get fitted yet

Yeah this is what we were thinking, may be its been shifted a bit but how would i move it back again?

you need to loosen the mounting brackets, move it till you get it where you want it to be, then tighten them up again!

You'll need to find the mounts and work out how to get to them. I think you can do one from the engine bay and the other from under the bumper. Then again, i remember taking the arch liner off too, but that may have just been to fit a hose and not to loosen the intercooler. Anyhoo, it's a simple enough job.

Hhmm i will see what happens at lunch i think with the diagnostics as if its still showing a fault :(

If it is then i will see if the garage can look at today

Before i fitted my fmic i had samcos and imho the one from intercooler to inlet manifold isnt long enough.

What i did was fitted the intercooler end first then got a mate to pull it towards the manifold while i did the jubilee clip up

maybe try using TWO high torque jubilee clips instead of one to make it extra secure alex?!

(thats wat some LCR boys do for their intercooler pipe that connects to the charge pipe.)

If you're looking for clips these are VERY good! Not cheap but well worth it I think and you will only need one.

alex B&Q sell some stainless steel high torque jubilee clamps for not much doller! ;)

i use them mostly unless i get them in a kit eg. the Forge FMIC supplies the jubilee clamps u need!

OMG LMFAO

I read that first bit like 'Alex BBQ (barbeque) smells' and was about to say ERMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM no it was definatly a eggy/sulphory smell :cartman:

Its more than the hose just doesnt seem long enough to be honest and i dont think any clip will sort that out without bodging it on and with such an important hose i dont really want to do that, you know?

We did get accused of it but my response consisted of telling the guy to take a deep breathe of the eggy smell, that soon shut him up

How funny was that guy! He was well enthusiatic and had such a nice car but had no idea what it was

What i dont get it, if he knew so little about cars then why wouldnt he give me that little Centre Cap Remover thing? (good name for it)

Oh and the trucker moved on once he was done or may be it was because he didnt want to be too close to my car because he felt ashamed with driving a lorry?
