Hopefully putting new starter motor in tomorrow. My day will start with me checking which terminal comes off first. I don't know how after all these years and the number of times I've taken the battery out, I still don't remember.

Sucks with you all putting performance parts on when I'm just trying to keep my car going!

Thought I'd ask here rather than the thread on starters I started - the motor I've bought has 10 teeth and the old one has 11. All the vehicle checkers say it'll fit my car, but I don't want to open the box (security sealed) or fit it if it's not going to work.

Everywhere I'm looking says it'll work fine, but I'm too knackered from getting the old one out to feel confident it'll be OK!

If its sold to as it will fit. Then you open it and fit it and it not work . It makes them liable. So you can return it . It you said I want that one it will fit and they said it wouldn't but you took it and it not work. Then that's your fault.
I had this a few times when I was banger racing with stuff. Being a tooth different it won't mesh as tight as 11 teeth. It will have more back lash. Best person would by Mr wronghorse if he has a couple laying about can he count the teeth for you.

Quick googleing and cross referencing. I came across this... it says 10 and 11 tooth starters are both compatible

So I would throw it in and have a good old Sunday drive mate

This car does my head in these days. I checked the listing and it speaks for itself, and I know Opie Oils are good people, so I don't see there being a problem.

I also had a look on Darkside, and the part number on my old part (02M 911 023 R), and the new part (02M 911 023 FX) look to be interchangeable.

I think that's probably enough research. I'll go out first thing tomorrow and fit it. The old one looks proper manky and corroded and while I was thinking about repairing it, looking up the cost of a replacement solenoid, it just doesn't make sense for something that might fail again in a few months.

Hella have a whole page saying the number of teeth doesn't really matter, but I would have thought there'd be more confused people like me out there. I suppose they're all returning their 10 tooth starter motors and getting 11 tooth ones instead...

With the size of the flywheel to the starter 1 tooth difference wouldn't make a difference on the mesh of the teeth. But more than 11 I think it would mesh to tight. And less than 10 then it would have more chance of slipping ad it's no going to have to correct mesh .
Chuck it in and go do some back roads...
Depending where abouts you are i would come give you a hand

Day in the workshop... trying to sort out the lights. It had a few bulbs and . old strip lights.
So I bought all new strip lights. But never got round to wiring them.in.. that was until I cound some thing on ebay.
I saw some of them hexagon lights, and thought they would be good.
So trip to b&q for some wood to span from the rafters. As every hexagon is 6 tubes , and each join has a hole to mount by screw.
The whole lot don't weigh much so don't think it needs mounted in every screw hole.
So I got up the 14 hexagons,

It took a bit of planning but then flew together.
But me being me... can't just be happy. I saw you could get a blue led surround..So.....

I thought it would go with the car.. as the car is black and grey, with blue bits and bobs... the white tubes are very bright and white. Really worth the money. But then I thought what's the blue like on uts own

Google tells me it might be an electric power steering column?
Yep clio rs mk3 power steering coloum. Seams a better option than fluid. So have got the coloum. Also a little device that plugs in to power it up but also with a variable register to make it either heaven to light.
So as soon it's possible I got to make a colum mount etc .. but this is another idea than cam from Edan of Gizfab.
Have a look on his youtube at the spicy micra

Found out little critters have made home in my bonnet insulation.
Opened the bonnet to do some routine maintenance, as it's been frozen for a week & clumps of insulation were all over my engine bay. I've cleaned it up, but gonna need a replacement. Anyone have Thai's contact, I'm not on Facebook.
Hoping they've not done any more damage to wires etc, battery is off, so i'll have to wait until tomorrow to check it over.
Edit: Anyone bought a new aftermarket one? Hoping there might be some available.
