Car passed its MOT today. I can shake off the “sports cat emissions anxiety” for another 12 months.
Only about 2k miles done this year but a good lot of ££££ spent on maintenance and mods.
I normally go to Motest in Bracknell and those guys have always been understanding and accommodating by letting the car idle for a long time before testing and it always passed.
Mine has sailed through at least 3 MOTs with that same cat setup as you. 2 MOTs on stock map and the current one on a Badger 5 map. Does a map really make any difference at idle, no throttle? I suspect not.
I went petrol because i didnt want to look like **** Van Dyke every time i had to clean my manifold or turbo out...
If im still about when the day comes that there are no other options but to drive an EV, thats what I'll be getting. Proper retro cool look. 70s Civic
Note that Badger 5 have diffferent options on the map you can have. I have 2 switchable maps. One map is “standard” and one is mapped to 282bhp. You have to bear in mind that my car was kicking out approx 245bhp on the stock map just due to exhaust/inlet mods. The “standard” map I had was just to keep things as they were.
How is your set up switchable?
Standard ECU. You can switch maps by holding down the accelerator pedal and tapping the brake pedal. A light on the dash (can’t remember which one) flashes to indicate which map is selected. In practice I’ve not really switched map, but could be useful in winter or if fault finding.
