With the sun shining I thought I’d spend today cleaning, polishing and waxing my car ready for our little trip to Le Mans this week.
Really pleased with the newly painted wheels.

I love these posts. I'm not knowledgeable enough on different parts and sizes (nor brave enough) to try things like these, but I'm more than happy to ride your coat-tails if it all works...So, you guys know I like my experiments with random car parts so strap yourselves in for the latest installment.
Let's start with a hole

Here's what should go there (right) with the same thing from a 2009 Scirocco.

Pretty similar, but will it fit?

Oh come on, they must have changed something

Nope, it lines up perfectly, like millimetre perfect. Did some measuring and the back end is pretty much the same dimensions wise (was by eye with a tape measure so not super accurate).
The only thing now is the fluid level sensor wiring

Those cheap ba... I mean, great people who knew not to mess with a good thing.
Btw, yes I tested out the vacuum line and it fits as well. So far it looks like only the steel lines would need modification to fit. I don't know if the ESP sensor is compatible for those who run such things.
I've had three MK1 Leon's and they all played that game. Still love them though.I’m sure my car is cursed when I goes on the ramp at work I fix something and then later something else goes now the power steering pump is making the noise that is saying replace me before I stop working grr

Any particular reason for the test or just seeing if you can chop and change certain parts? If it might help my brakes, I'm in.
I've got some of those....God knows whereThanks, figured out it should be 10mm side to side and 8mm front back. Might as well upgrade to metal bushings
Solid Aluminium Bushes for VW 02M & 02Q Linkage Ends
These Solid Bushings are a direct replacement / upgrade for the stock rubber bushings found in the linkage ends on the 02M & 02Q Gearboxeswww.darksidedevelopments.co.uk
I've seen on vids ect were they updated the standard linkage not sure if it was that one your getting as it was a while ago , it made the gear change more tight than the sloppy change well on the fr pd150, that's my only issue with the Leon, cheap upgrade is that's the case i would change mineThanks, figured out it should be 10mm side to side and 8mm front back. Yeah I drove my old LC I sold to a relative the other day and the gear change was silky smooth, whereas mine is pretty notchy. Gave the linkage on top of the gearbox a pull and it moves all over the place because the rubber bushing has perished.I've seen on vids ect were they updated the standard linkage not sure if it was that one your getting as it was a while ago , it made the gear change more tight than the sloppy change well on the fr pd150, that's my only issue with the Leon, cheap upgrade is that's the case i would change mine
yea? how you do that?A simple linkage reset can make a huge difference and costs nothing.

Nice one, going off vid thick mines ok but will have a look even so nice to knowI was about to type up an explanation but then it dawned on me it's easier to watch this. It's for a TT but it's essentially the same anyway.

Yeah, I was actually going to do that when I discovered the perished bushing. It'll need resetting when replaced anyway.A simple linkage reset can make a huge difference and costs nothing.
