And you don't do twice the number of trips, you extend time between trips as you replace all four when they're all worn.

I tend to find that when the fronts wear down the rears are still good, so I replace the fronts at one stage then when they need replaced again that’s when I do all 4. Worked like this the past four times

I probably get through 4 or 5 sets of fronts for every set of rears. As long as the tread is the same on the each axle i'm cool with it. Never had an issue and at £130 a tyre it soon adds up.
Goodyear F1 AS6 never thought they would be better than the last AS2 i had, worth checking national tyres for deals as they are owned by Halfords as thats wear i got mine replaced
normally the air loss is inner wheel rim rust that the fitter has not removed before adding paste .. as ive had that a few times
i recommend j&r for decent quality stuff if you are on a budget. Last year I had the same thing on my mot but it ended up being both driveshafts being cooked. It cost me £90 for both sides
Ehh, these things happen. But yeah, that's gone. Not too bad a job to DIY, something to take a weekend at the most
Not a problem. Needs to go for an oil change soon. I've hit 110,000 miles.
I'll jump on every thread where the tyre question comes up to tell people not to run Pirellis. I had them on my car when I was doing miles and they lasted something between 6-8,000 miles. Michelin PS4s lasted 12,000.
I'm running Bridgestone at the moment and they've been absolutely fine. Grippy enough for everyday use and last well too. The spare is Bridgestone too, so I think that's what came on the car new.

Along the same thoughts. If any one has ever watched banger racing. I used to race some years ago. You would have noticed that most if not all run tyre gators. Basically is the side wall of another tyre put on after the normal tyre. So it's a sort of flap . So you have a bit more protection from buggering your tyres on the car.
Any way used to sit there and when mounting tyres for racing with inner tubes . I used to cut the side walls out of some old wheels to use as gators.
Bridgestone, pirelli, mitcheline all have really thin side walls. Also as they are typicly a summer dry weather tyre they are softer compound to make them have better traction. But softer compound wears out quicker.
Harder compounds less grip but last longer. So it's all about budget and ballance.
But they way I look at it is.. how much you spend on wizzy engine. Turbo the size of a dustbin. Your 22inch spinners. Full leather reclining recaros and diamond studded roof lining more stereo than curry's.... the only part of your car to touch the ground is the tyres.... don't go budget in the wrong place.

It is metal. It's just the grime on it and the camera flash making it look like matt plastic
