Yeah this is how I am looking at it.
Wanting to do this for a while, been a bucket list item.
Don't like the modern cars. Not convinced about a viable replacement. Don't think I'd live it as much.
Theres an emotional attachment with the youth days.
Shape of the Cupra is awesome, imho, head turner.
Almost a cult classic.
Given me a new found love, will defo try more smaller mods myself next.

Financially makes no sense. But you only live once.

I'm a professional photographer and it's safe to say you're not going to get any pushback about posting a couple of photos. The magazine knows your car was used for the article and they'd look like dicks if they said or did anything about it. The only time they'd tell you not to in my experience is if the magazine hasn't been published yet and isn't on the shelves.

Was hoping for more than a two page spread TBH. Still, nice photos and a decent write up.

But it would it cost a fortune for a new car that would have very expensive modern electronics that keep going wrong
like day light running lights , 800-900 per head light or more even the lock modules can cost 1k the prices are shocking, i reckon due to car industry going as it is with net con they bumped the prices up big time just to keep the figures good, then you got the Chinese's cars you cant get the parts and some of the faults are shocking from new, if the cars are fine people have got you may as well repair at a fraction of the cost, i like my tech but theses days there's tech in cars you just will never use and its all linked so most of time your stuck with steelers

That particular feature is always just that two page spread.
Sure we could fill a magazine ourselves as mk1 owners with the highs and lows of owning them. :ROFLMAO:
Good to get any sort of mainstream magazine space though as we often get overlooked with not wearing Ford or German badges.

That's why I subscribe to Evo. They do decent articles on older cars. It's the first time I've bought TG mag since Clarkson and co left 😁

Definitely getting that feeling. I always wondered how the infotainment system in my dad's 2009 Mondeo lasted. I always had trouble with it whenever I drove it, and that was hard wired into everything. The idea of my car updating like an iPhone and maybe not having a feature I liked anymore really bothers me - and that's ignoring the multitude of other problems around engine faults and reliability.

I like the mk7 Golf and Mercedes C Class, but I watch enough Humble Mechanic on YouTube to know I don't want to be working on those engines.

Let's get this intake off and cleaned. I've heard it can make it feel like a new car, or at the very least it'll give me second gear back.

I had that problem with the Apple CarPlay unit I had (I've double-dinned the dash). It was a Pioneer and a firmware update took away the keyboard, so I had to enter addresses verbally (which I hate) or on the phone.

Anyway, it died after only 2 years because it was cobbled together with cheap Covid-era chips. Had a big battle with Halfords to get a replacement, but got there in the end and sold the replacement they eventually gave me.

Bought the Kenwood equivalent and I actually prefer it. But also think what point is there in getting a new car? I've got CarPlay and sat nav and don't "need" anything more.

Classic Retro Modern I subscribe to, brilliant mag.
Took a punt on issue one and subscribed since.
That's the way its going over people sticking or buying older cars now even aftermarket parts company's have seen an opening for replacements like Febi just look at Febi Leon lock modules they sell, they are more expensive say 40 quid per lock over the cheaper alternative but they look exact same as vw alternative they even do a EGR with gasket for the Pd engines for around 80 quid, the big one is the MAF ive not seen that well yet

So today I wanted to figure out why there’s been so much condensation in my car, especially around the back. After taking the spare wheel out, I discovered a pool of water sitting underneath it. It’s going to take a while to dry everything out properly, especially because I have soundproofing that traps moisture.

I started wondering how the water was getting in, so I had a closer look—and found that one of the screws holding the tail light in place is completely missing. No wonder water’s been sneaking its way inside.

What makes it worse is that the people who vinyl-wrapped my car seem to have made a lot of mistakes, and now I’m dealing with the consequences. Pretty frustrating, but at least I finally know where the problem is coming from.
