ollie - by big brakes do you mean 256mm or 280mm or bigger? cos u can get 15s over the 256mm which is wat i had on my '96 1.4 8v . u have the same brakes on my 2.0 8v and the standard wheels which are 15x6.5 offset 38 i think.

i recommend avoiding 17'' with profile 40 tyres as they buckle if u park your car on a kerb with low tyre pressure. ruined my team dynamic monzas which looked perfect on the car.

Neither of those diameter brakes would be referred to as Big. Standard 16v/G60 brakes and calipers normally require 16" wheels.
Depends on the clearance of the wheels, although some more motorsport esq wheels (ronal turbo, compo mo etc) will be able to clear

wen i say big brakes i mean bigger than the 1.4 standard ones 239mm solid which are rubbish, i put 256mmx20mm vented on front and it made a big difference.
