Fitted 20mm spacers to my cupra today and seems to be play in the wheel. Driving along theres a huge knocking rotary noise coming from both sides. The hubcentric's also dont fit flush with the hub? Any helpers

If they aren't fitting flush have you not some sort of mess or corrosion on the hub and wheel which matched before now doesn't?

I found the Hubcentric spacers don't always fit tight with the OEM wheel bolts... Check that the bolts are SHORT enough to hold the wheel tight on the spacer.

Do you screw the spacer to the hub then the wheel to the spacer? Or do you bolt the wheel to the hun through the spacer?

Bolt thru with longer bolts given. Theres no thread on the spacers tho

15mm sorry not 20mm lol

Mate it up on the hub with a bolt through it and see if it looks as if the wheel will sit right. Look from the back of the car to see if the gap will be small enough to hold the wheel on without it wobbling. Mine where getting to the end of their thread too soon meaning that it wouldn't bolt the wheel on tight.

I had the same issue on the way down to Pod recently on my MK2.. had to turn round/go home and fit my other rims in the end.. it seems my bolts were just a little too long (2 mm's possibly), but it was enough to give the symptoms you are describing.
*incidentally, I have had a wheel come off just after coming off a m/way junction so it can be a VERY brown trousers moment.. especially when you've just manouvred round a 40 ft wagon!!

always make sure you CHECK YOUR NUTS !!!

Good point, just don't be going anywhere when you haven't sorted the problem! It's better to leave the spacers off. The spacers won't necessarily have thread on them, normally the thinner ones won't have thread because the longer bolts act as a compromise.

Can you bolt them up without the wheel and spin the wheel to see if it's fouling on anything? If it does, then slowly unscrew the bolts to see if that makes a difference. It will proove Brummy's theory if the bolts are screwing in too far.

Im more concerned theyre fouling on something (ABS ring perhaps) as they may be a tad too long then due to that there is play between the alloy and the spacer.

grab a marker pen.. screw the bolt through the spacer and into the hub , mark it where it comes out (carefully) then using SAME bolt, put it through one of the holes on the alloy.. if theres a difference, you know the bolt is too long (may only even be 2 or 3 mm so mark it carefully) if this is the case you would either need slightly shorter bolys *ie 32mm instead of 35.. or if you know a man that can, get them milled down a gtad .
