If you're gonna do it, then do it properly. Buy proper VW parts for a MK IV Golf (...for the front, fabia for the rear). All the part numbers are in a guide linked from :-

Costs a little more but I've had no issues at all. Excellent mod IMHO. (I didn't cut my passenger blade, just mounted its resting place a little higher - not really noticable).
