Cupra R Potter
Hi all

Sorry if this is a repost - i have searched, I can only find a tutorial for the MK2 leon

I am wondering what the best way into the car is with the power cable on the MK1 Cupra R.

Also there is some sort of junction box on top of the battery - there is a spare connector on there - can I hook the power cable onto the spare lug here?

Help appreciated :)

Airbag plug i9s fine, i didnt remove mine but it was ok.

Theres a gromit up there. also its best to put the power cable direct to the terminal with an adapter or bolt it on to the terminal bolt as ive done.

i wouldn't recommend unplugging that switch for the airbag unless you have vagcom. i unplugged mine and had the airbag light on for ages till i got round to resetting it with vagcom. there is enough free cable so you don't need to unplug it - just leave your glovebox in the footwell. good luck :)

I stuck mine through a grommet in the passenger footwell, didn;t take glovebox or anything out. Just get a wire coat hanger, straighten it out, and push it through the grommet. Once you've found the end of the coathanger in the engine bay attatch your cable to the other end using plenty or black tape and pull it through carefully.
Worked on every car i've ever tried it on.
Then get a large ring terminal and attatch it on the the main power connector on the battery.

As richy said really - you might be able to see some pics on my guides (it's a Leon Cupra but won't matter)

Let me see if I can find any...

EDIT: Can't find any pictures really.

The grommet I used is located beneath the glovebox height, at the top of the footwell. Did just like Richy said, used wire coat hanger to push through to make a hole and the pull the cable through into the cabin.

Hi, When i had my mk4 basically the same i removed the air filter and under that is a plastic tube housing lots of wiring. If you open that up you can feed the wire from the battery into the car. Take the piece off below the glove box and pull the carpet down and the wire will be poking through from the top of the bulk head. From there on unclip the psg side trims and feed the wire through all the way to the back. Like said above attach it seperatly to the battery terminal. The interior trim is quite fragile so take your time and do it gently and check all the trim pieces clip in properly otherwise your have lots of annoying rattles.

didnt search very well!! lol, there have now been 3 posts about this in the last week or 2 - both have links to pics and an excelent guide on icecavern that jake linked to.

saying that, my power cable is still in limbo - I've finally got to the grommit on the engine bay side but cant get the wire out the other side behind the glovebox.

I assume you've taken the air box out, otherwise its virtually impossible to do, well i thought so. Save yourself hassle and remove it, only a 5 min job.

if u just pushed it through the grommet u goota be careful for any water comin through it coz i followed the thread someone posted about doin it, and i was havin rain water so ive had to seal it all up!!
