the guide forge kindly posted is for the k03 turbos incase u were worrying why ur tip looks different! ;) :lol:


everyone has said that you should remove ur airbox to help do this... yes i agree it would make access slightly better BUT imho i dont think you should bother!

both times i fitted and removed my TIP i had my airbox in place... i personally think there is enough room with it in place! :yes:


just my 2p worth! :whistle:

There's a little hook type bit of metal through a hole and I need to lift the bottom bit overish or just twist until the hook bit gives way?

I picked up all 3 blue samco hoses on ebay for £202 which included clamps and delivery which i thought was a pretty decent price. (Samco TIP/Samco Top 2 IC Hoses)
The guy still has a couple of sets left if anyone is interested:)

Ive not had much time as i only got them 2 hours ago but ive fitted the left hand IC hose, ill do the other 2 at the weekend when i have more time:) The tip hose looks a bugger to do:shrug: Are all the take offs from the TIP used or does any of them need to be blanked up?

Everyone ive spoken too reccomends changing the TIP on a chipped car due to the hose collapsing under pressure at around 5000rpm but has anyone felt the left hand IC hose after a hard run:blink: I would have thought this hose would cause more problems than the TIP, :shrug:
The TIP hose to me seems quite strong, even after a hard run:shrug: The LH IC hose however is very very soft when hot!

I think think the IC hoses are fine to be honest, the main concern would be the stock once splitting.

My TIP did show signs of collaps but only a small amount (get her on a RR and have a look)

All the pipes are used on the after market TIP, which one di dyou get? Samco, sfs, Forge?

I went for samco mate as that was what the guy was selling on ebay, i wasnt too fussed with what brand. I assume they are all the same:)

Ow yeah there all very similar, just wondered if they were a "lesser" make as it were seeing as they were cheap, plus others may have been different as ive only ever seen the main ones

tin snips are good for getting the oe clips on the tip off as you can put them sideways on and cut the raised bit on the top to split them then leaver them off.
I thought i heard of someone on here who had the LH one balloon up on a RR day but i've never seen it meself.
I thought i felt the tip collapse once when doing about 5-5.5k in 6th, the power dropped momentarially then started again. Never happened since, but i did buy an uprated one the day after (any excuse!).

mitch... yes the left hand IC hose (from the charge pipe) does get VERY soft once worm... or even cold tbh!


also my oe one popped off and got a slight split in it on the edge due to the jubilee clip!


replacment samco/forge/silicon hoses (all 3 the same!) are sooo much better than stock ones! :yes:


as for fitting the TIP, its easy... just undo all the oe clamps and pull everything out and then refit the new TIP.

make sure u use high torque jubilee clamps too! ;)


ps. all ur mods are coming together... il have to change my sig once your stage 2 too! :( :lol: hmmm... maybe i wont sell you one my BF DPs! ;) :whistle:

Yes once i do the other 2 hoses and the cat/downpipe im going to get it mapped again to take into account all the mods ive done! You done it the right way james, getting it all done beforehand ;)

When i was mapped, the car was running on 97ron fuel and had no other modifications at all. Ive done lots of mods since, so i dont think im getting the best out of them tbh!

I was going to go IHI, but i cant really afford it tbh so i may look at getting the turbo si has got to break the 300 mark without nos. I would then have another 50bhp to play with nitrous wise to take it to around 350bhp.:)

I think im going to try custom code for my next map as they can take into account and tune my nitrous properly aswell! The jabba map cant, it doesnt really adjust that well, or so james at JBS tells me!

Once thats done, its onto the suspension, then a front end respray for all the nice little stone chips and that will be my car complete:)

I cant wait to get this exhaust sorted out, i know the car is holding back because of it!

Si got 273whp at 1st attempt without being properly mapped so that shows what it can do flywheel wise considering the average + 35bhp losses

Its the same KO4 so it will fit directly onto the existing manifold meaning you do not need to change anything, its just a larger compressor inside allowing it to run at around 1.8bar and sustain around 1.4 bar at the red line!

I dont think its that cheap tbh, around £950-£1000 but considering you'll get £250-300 back for your old K04 when you flog it, it doesnt work out that bad.

Its a simple bolt on which is why i am tempted, there's no need to waste money buying a manifold/downpipe to suit along with water lines/new Tip/injectors etc!

The other left;) the right hand IC hose should be receiving nice cool air through it so it shouldnt baloon as its the air that has just passed through the intercooler.

have you spoken to mike about mapping with nos?!

as for IHI... i have been in 2 IHI cars and tbh i was not impressed at all... yes they were quicker then mine, but not by much!!!!

certainly not worth the 4k id have to spend to get there! :no:

like scott said, what turbo has sie got? in his last email to me he said his car was running very well and that he is still waiting to get it mapped again.. he is hoping for 320bhp!

i know its some sort of hybrid k04... is it a APR one or sumic? also do you know costs?! i assume the standard manifold and DP that we have can be used with a hybrid k04? :shrug:

Yes i think Si has found the inbetween between KO4 and IHI.

Its certainly worth thinking about as the way i see it you dont waste money on all the other accessories needed for a BT upgrade!

Direct bolt on to existing manifold, meaning yes james your manifold/downpipe and TIP are just fine:D However change to go BT and you would need a new manifold/downpipe and tip along with a lot more bits and bobs:)

Group buy anyone:D

James, ill have to speak to mike actually about nitrous mapping as i would like to stay with jabba as i have the boost controller fitted:)

Si will hopefully tell us a lot more about it as he hasnt done a proper review on it yet:)
