Well i missed this post spaniels.

Well after having had for just over a week due to the silly Fan problem ( which is all sorted now and a commn problem it seems) i can honestly say out of all the cars i have owned ( this being the 10th) i have finally found "The One". And what i mean there is this is the one i really want to keep.

When i first ordered it i was well up for having a 220 bhp conversion on it as i though 163bhp was just too underpowered. But wow, i could'nt be more wrong, it really is'nt. The power delivery is imense, without little fuss from losing traction, Sure if you turn the ESP system off the traction can be lost but you really hav to try. But it just seems to put the power nice, but its until about 4500rpm that the supercharger howl seems to pick up and you get that lovely "supercar-esque whine" through the car. And then it seems to pick up again about 6000rpmall the way to the rev limiter at 7300rpm. then up and gear and straight back in the power band. so for the moment i have no plans to go mad on engine mods, in fact i am gonna leave it standard ish till next summer.

Yes there is not as much torque as my old ibizas, but, that has its upsides. Mainly that i have found in the Mini, due to the need for revs to get the full perfomance, that i dirve around the local town a lot slower. i mean in the Ibza tdi i would drive around town like a right nobber, always spinngin it up around roundabouts, blasting off the lights, trying to prove that a Tdi could be quick. Just really abusing the Torque all the time. But in the Mini i just cruise around, cos even at slow speeds around town it is fun to drive. so there have been some beneits

Next the handling, well i knew they were good the mini's as i had already driven a 500 mile roundtrip to le mans in one. But WOW, there is no way either of my Ibizas could keep up with the MCS on the twisites. It is so stable in the bends it is untrue, in fact you find yurself pushing it harder and harder into bends to provoke some sort of reaction, but it just sticks to the road. Steering is really well weighted to the car, and turn in very sharp. in fact when i first got it it was too sharp for me. Touch the wheel and round you go, GREAT!!!!. It makes the Ibiza just feel so wallowy it is insane.

Looks wise, i love it, everytime i park up i look back, and have a quick look. and esepcially as mine is one of the more sensible colour schems, i am not up for all this stupid chequered roof and bonnet ripes crap.

Living with it:, surprisingly good, i don't need a huge boot, which is good as it is as big as an ibiza glovebox. The interior is very good, took a while to get used to the speedo in the middle, but quite straih forward once you know. The climate control is very very clever, specially the winter morinng start feature, which turns all heaters on , creens on and blows one hell of a gale on the front screen. The leather seats are gorgeous, and i love the low down seating position. Also people are so much nicer to you in a mini, i am always getting waived out of junctions, and have had no road rage since being in it. Plus i was shocked at how many Minis there are on the road. LOADS, there is literally 4 in my part of the road ( none S's though paupers). Oh and petrol costs, surprisinging really. Yeah drive it like a tit and its bad, but drive it normal with the occasional boot in 2nd and 3rd and i averaged 33 mpg and 260 miles to my first tank. About 80 or so less than the Tdi, which is no real difference. Also i seem to get a lot of respect from other hot hatches etc, i think a lot appreciate what a tool the Cooper S is. I also have caught 2 people lookign over it one night when i came out of the Gym, they jumped in a Golf Gti mk5 so not sure what thats saying. Oh and lastly, build qulaity, it is solid as a rock, doors thump shut, boot thrumps shut. Everything is just perfect on it.

Oh and the only 2 mods i am doing apart from the service i gave it last week are , firstly the Milltek exhaust or Borla exhaust, not too sure which one yet, but prbably the Milltek as they sound the tits, that will be after christmas as a birthday present. But tonight i just ordered a John Cooper Motorsport Race Air Filter and housing, which is modified from the Works cars which have electric valves that cut in at certain revs fro more air. The race one just has more air all te time without the Electronics. So BMW genuine parts modified by John Cooper works motorsport , the suppliers of the official works car uprades ( so kind of like SEAT sport). Also tempted by the 4-2-1 manifold. But thats te lot at the moment, oh and the S2000 aerial i nicked off my Ibiza too which fitted.

So in summary, i loved my ibizas, but i want to Marry my Mini Cooper S. The only car you will see me swapping this one for is a Mini cooper s works GP 2 -seater. ummmm. Oh and before anyone says anything about the mk2 Cooper s Turbo. I don't like it, it is very different to the mk1 and i prefer the supercharger many thanks.

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Mini Cooper, most common overpriced car known to man. You really have to be
a C**T to actually think that they are cool and look good. Fact. (Except the originals which ARE cool and look good. [B)]
Sorry, but anyone who actually forks out their own money for one is a sheep, devoid of any originality whatsoever.

Oh well, each to their own I suppose.

I'd have a Cooper S over a Mk4 Beeza any day. Sorry.

Anyway, this thread was laid to rest back in 2006!

I'm afraid that is why they are so common in this Country.....................The British public have no idea about style. Have you seen the average Brit dress?
I'm not denying that the Mini may be fun to drive, just the automotive equivalent of a tracksuit and trainers. Especially the sky blue ones with white wheels. Class.

Anyway, its only an opinion, and quite frankly don't really care if the original
thread died a death in 2006, BMW Mini Coopers are NAFF! [:@]

Well thats true fella! - I took my time, considered my options, researched then rushed out to buy the cupra! :)

i get what ant was saying about the door thumping shut and the genaral quality is better but ive driven one breifly and i really didnt like the styling or the clocks or the interior look but i can definatly see why people like them as they are alright cars and reguardless of looks the superchar noise is LOVELY! glad hes happy with it i just want to see it tunned to 265bhp!

if it were my money id of got a cupra beezer and ihi'd it hense why ive done that :D but if i was remotly bothered about a rattle in a dash or a squeek from the boot i wouldnt of gone for a SEAT! I CAN ASSURE YOU IT WOULD BE VAG!

any pics of your car ant?
