I'm after a more throaty noise on my car and a slight but not over the top dump valve noise. Would a decent panel filter do the job?

Thanks

Ken

I've got a Dynatwist and it's pretty effective for both power delivery and noise output (if you like that kind of thing) the engine sounds more throaty and I get a very subtle whistle and whoosh, helped along by a forge 007 dv. It's not Stagecoach loud, its just nice :)

i ran the standard air box for a while and decided that the car lacked any real noise, so decided to get an induction kit, so i bought a BMC CDA, anyway after fitting the kit, the actual carbon box was right up against the inside of the wing, and a cold air feed couldn't be fitted. I left it like this as the noise was better and i could hear the DV echo, so it was ok...ish, it did feel sluggish though, so i then decided that the air box was going back on and when i put it back on it felt "alive" again and revved much happier, but i really wanted to gett he BMC back on, so i took off the end plate toward the MAF sensor end of the BMC carbon box and cut about an inch and half off, maybe 2 inches, put the end plate back on and job done. It's now fitted properly and a cold air feed to it aswell, i thought it might bugger the BMC up by chopping it up a bit but it's superb, the noise is even louder as the turbo spooling up is great and it revv's even happier than the boggo air box, it gives a great whistle on spool up and a nice echo on backing off or gear change especially when a bout 3k revs - so overall well chuffed!

re-map and split R DV will hopefully make it sound awesome!

just picked my bmc up 2day and it doesnt look like there much room in there for it. so u cut a few inch off the bmc or the bit it clips on2??

Just fitted a K&N 57i filter, must say probably does nothing for the performance, but i love the noise from the dump valve coming back through the air filter and the chatter, lovely

Is that on the standard Dump Valve or do you have an aftermarket one fitted?

i [or rather my sister's husband] cut off about 1.5" - 2" off the actual air box, i had the idea after taking it off and looking how much "empty space" there was inside the box, as to not obviously cut the filter element cone thing inside, the end that was cut was the engine side end, if that makes sense.

here's what was done -

1. unscrew the end plate - engine side [oval shaped plastic end]
2. mark off on box how much wanted cutting all the way around.
3. cover filter element inside from any nasty dust etc - masking tape and newspaper did the trick, fiddly but ok.
4. use small hand held angle grinder [unsure what disc was used tbh, but i'll find out if needed] to cut the box.
5. remove paper and masking tape
6. re- fit end plate.
7. fit properly with cold air pipe to standard air feed behind LCR or try and find a better route - good luck if you do!

i'm well pleased with it now, felt really sluggish with the box before it was cut with no feed to it, but now it's sorted it just seems to rev harder, it's never going to be ram air loud, but it sounds cool [and fairly loud tbh] spooling up and a nice echo on gear change, even with standard DV and boost.

oh so u cut the box then. think i know what u meant got my slpiter R in the post to day so will be fitting the on sat and having a fidle aroud with it. did u usr the piping that came with it as it dont seem that bendy??

Ive had a BMC fitted for the past 5 months or so and i'm pretty happy with it.

Planning on getting some new pipe and running it right to the front of the car, as mine only goes to the side of the battery at the moment and into the standard air intake thingy...

Anyone got any pics of a new pipe going straight to the front?

Hope that all makes sense??? It does to me anyways :)

Scott

i know what you mean, hoepfully looking todo the same thing so could also do with some pics if anyone has any?

yeah i usd the original pipe that came with the BMC, it is isn't that bendy, nor does it crush but it was easy to fit it didn't need to be that bent tbh to fit, i did buy some green air feed pipe aswell, but it wasn't needed, i think the more solid BMC pipe is better.

report back please on the sound of the BMC with the spit R DV as i'm after one if they sound good.

I fitted a Split-R Valve yesterday and it sounds quite nice with the BMC.
Quite noticable changing gear between 1500-3000 revs. Anymore than that and i can't really hear it dumping...

cheers mate, nice one.....it's prob not as loud after that as the boost will have dropped off a bit, re - map the car and it'll be even louder!

Ive got a split R on mine and i couldnt really hear it, now the noise comes back more though the K & N air filter. Got a Milltek cat-back exhaust too, but just doesnt seem to make much noise.

Well my car has a Green panel filter and the Std DV and even that makes a slight whoosssss noise inside, so hoping it will make a bit louder whooss noise with the forge 007 DV. Dont wont anything over the top as i think the stance of the car itself is in your face cheers.

Green panel filter, forge 07 & forge TIP. Good (low) whooshy sound on me LCR.

I cant think how much more "bad boy whoosh" i can achieve with another set-up, (twist, bmc, ram, splir-r ?)!
