Ibiza Year 2000 EPC Light

Posted this in the FAQ forum by mistake; apologies ...

Hi,

I had my Ibiza clutch, cable, pedal and bracket replaced a week ago and ever since then the EPC light is constantly on. The garage did their best to investigate this since they accepted that the light was not on before they did their work. But they have not been able to resolve the problem. I'm not a technical person, but they did investigate at length and changed the "brake vacuum switch" to no avail. I've been without the car for days on end now yet nothing seems wrong with it, apart from the EPC light being on. The brake lights work fine, etc. Why might replacing the clutch and other components have caused this to happen and does anyone know what the solution is?

Many thanks in advance.

Brake pedal sensor isnt plugged in or installed correctly. I think its a blue plug on the brake pedal. Cant belive they havent found the issue

Stupid idiots are SEAT did this to mine. Best off checking that they have actually tightend the nuts up on the pedal bracket too. They didnt do mine, still need to complain about that.

Remove the tray to get access to fuse area, check under neath there.

Thanks - darn garage is miles away as well and I keep having to drive there leave the car and come back by train. They did replace a blue brake sensor. Presumably they needed to look right beside the clutch pedal that they replaced!

Yeah, you're right to do that. Trouble is, this is a small outfit and I feel bad about it (yes, they should too, though).

If that fails, get someone with vag com to have a look for you, reset the fault see if it comes back.

you can unplug the battery for 10-15 mins and i think it will clear the fault also.

Thanks for all your responses. Will probably have to pay Seat dealer to investigate properly.

I had the EPC light on mine and i replaced the switch on the brake pedal and the one i replaced it with turned out to faulty as well, so it might be worth checking the switch itself to see if thats at fault. how you would do this i don't know as a mate done mine.

Thanks - I'm going to have Seat test out the whole thing next week - at a price, of course :(

well according to the handbook it is an "accelerator pedal fault" but as i said earlier it turned out to be a switch above the brake pedal that was at fault in my case, but my first port of call would be to get the codes read and then go from there.
