Why do you hate P Zero's then Red Rum? I've got mine on now but haven't tried them out properly yet!

The didnt have that much grip, squeeled like a bi@tch everytime i took a roundabout at more than 20 mph, wore down really quick in the inside edge and where really loud lol imo;)

I had uniroyal rainsports on previously and the road noise from them was terrible, but they were amazing in the wet. So I haven't noticed any difference in the road noise, they might even be quieter than the rainsports. Its raining at the mo so when I go out I'll test them in the wet. My mate used to have avon zz3's on his ibiza and it was like driving in the dry when it was pissing down loads of grip in bends like. Anyone else had p zero's on thier car??

.. F1 are nice, Toyo's cheaper and nearly as good .. but .. big but for those up North .. they both do not work in frozen slush/ice and are not great in snow. The P Zero OEM are not really nice but they do work in snow! If the sun is out I have a soft top with F1 tyres and more go .. but really need the snow part sorted as I have 1/2 mile of unploughed road come the wrong time of year..:(

Yes I know the feeling well as I live a bit much above sea level - and just to add to my pain the local authority have resurfaced the road nearby - and an uncap spring is rising through the crown of the road and its on a steep hill with bends - the water just washes the salt away and freezes and the senior roads consultant just says its a lot better than it used to be (my a**e!).

Anyway, I'd aways try to track down the local tyre independant tyre place, they do exist, they tend to buy tyres on the European open market so do not pay/charge cartel prices. Get an online best price and they will usually beat it - actually so will Kwik Sh*t if you print it out!

Got to say the road noise on my p-zeros is bad, had proxie t1-rs on my old car and liked them so will probably replace the p-zeros with proxies when the time comes

a tyre(ing) shock to the system

Morning fellow early birds, woke up to a bit of shock this morning - more to the fact a bit of a ball ache (no not that... :)) - i parked my acr on the long drive last night with my wheels turned full lock. Went to the car this morning and spotted my tyres looking a bit worse for wear.... in fact ALOT worse for wear.

I borroewed my car to my cousin while i was away for a couple of weeks and didnt quite realise how much **** he gave it...

i think my fronts are border illegal to under the legal limit so off i go on the shop for new tyres. blackcircles have a nice range fited (want to stay arounf 80 a corner)

which would you recommend from

Kumho KU31
Falken FK-452
Yokohama PARADA SPEC 2

Bearing inmind i want these set to last more than 11 months :'( - i know stop caining in corners...

Any other suggestions welcomed.

Hi Hudson,

I had Kumho KU31's on mine on the last set of tyres, think they were about 115quid for a pair fitted, although that was over a year ago now.

They definately reduced road noise compared to the original PZeros that came on the car.

For the price I got them for, I was very pleased with them, gave a decent amount of grip all the time wet or dry, and lasted about 12,000 city miles, which, around Milton Keynes, (Roundabout city!!) isnt all that bad. 12,000 miles for me was about a year, tyre life depends on loads of factors though.

I have an ft tdi, they coped with the torque unless you dropped the clutch with TCS off for the inevitable wheelspin! But if you do that you clearly want the wheelspin!

I havent had experience on Falkens or Yok's, but I would definately have another set of Kumhos if I was offered some.

regards

Nick

Unfortunately I couldn't sell to you, we're wholesale only...Id sell to the garages that sell to you:D

Ive never seen us stock Prada, so I cant help u there...but I know if its between Kumho and Yoko...yoko's deff better. Kumhos more popular but only cos of the price.

O'rly - when you say sell... A are you local and B how much ;)

I'd expect Pradas to wear quicker than Khumos... opinions?

H

I would say the paradas probs do wear quicker than khumos, as i get an averag of 5000 miles from my front tyres, but to be fair, i cant get my fingers in the front arch, so it scrubs abit lol theyre worth it for anytime that its dry tbh;)

this has been discussed a fair few times, best thing to do is use the search button and it will come up with loads of info. heres my 2 pence worth.....

I have run Toyo T1-R's on mine and they are very good. The P Zero Neros that the Cupra comes with are crap, especially in the wet. I did look into getting the Toyo Proxe R888s for mine, but they came to just under £500 for 4!! :(

I currently have some crap Avon tyres on as i was short of fundage and my old Toyos where bald!! Once these have been used, am replacing them with Goodyear Eagle F1's all round, few people on here have had/got them and seem to be highly recommended. The Yokohama Pradss also seem to be very good tyres for grip..a mate runs them on his LCR. I dont think they last particularly long though, but it depends how you drive
