As said above, I have sprayed quite a lot of plastic parts and ensure you "key" the surface with some high grit (600 or so) wet and dry paper so the primer can take to the shiney surface. Also ensure when you are buying primer that you buy plastic primer as it's what you need, 3-4 coats of colour with wet and dry 800 grit between coats to ensure a smooth reflective finish then a couple of coats of lacquer will do the job nicely :)

Top man, I gonna be giving it a shot myself soon!

;)

On a seperate note, I see you are in SE London too, where would you recommend going for a bit of ICE advice.... im thinking of getting a small sub fitted.....

All the audio stores I have been are generally a bit clueless when you are after a specific sound or effect. Your best bet for solid advice is talkaudio.co.uk, and if you need someone to fit your kit, find a shop thats been recommended on there. There is one guy who does extremely high quality work in essex though, the shop is called custom acoustics, or near gatwick iirc a guy called bass boy will be able to give solid advice also!

I take it your not looking for anything overly loud, just good sound quality?

Hi thanks for the advice, yeah Im not planning on going to Southend on a Sunday night, just something to give a deeper richer sound. I replaced all 4 stock speakers with Pioneer Kevlar ones which made a HUGE difference and the RNS510 improved it even more over the stock radio. Just seen that site recommends sounds alarming in Welling, not far, will give them a try, cheers :rocker:

Yeah sounds alarming are the better of the two audio shops in welling. Wouldnt buy stuff from them as you can get it much cheaper else where but they are good fitters. Are you local to Welling then mate, im only down the road from there.

I presume to give you the sound you are looking for you will be going for a multi channel amp to power your pioneer kevlars and a SQ sub?

I used to live in Bexleyheath now im in Mottingham.

To be honest I haven't a clue about amps etc... I was hoping to have a look around, get some advice then order the exact same of the net (cheaper) and go back and get it fitted...

Im not sure what the output is from the RNS510 or how easy it is going to be to fit etc... Guess im looking to spend about £200-£250 what could I expect for that do you reckon?

Is that a Hyundai Coupe in one of your speaker vids? Ive got a 55 2.0l SE in Black too

Mottinghams not too far away.

I have to read up about th rns510 still to see if its easily expandable, might get one for my car if it is.

Think you might struggle with 250 pounds to get everything though, as you need an amp, box, sub and wiring kit. Unless you got some 2nd hand stuff from talkaudio on which there are some real bargains to be had.

Otherwise for 300 pounds you could get a really nice setup, a amp that will give 75rms each to your speakers and 360 rms for your sub at 230 pounds, then you would have 70 pounds left for the sub etc.

If you go for a 12" sub I could meet you on the day you get it all fitted and drop a prefab box off for you as I no longer use it and its just sitting in my shed, im all custom baby :D

And im gonna be stripping out the wiring of my ibiza next saturday, so if you want you can have my old 4 gauge and 8 gauge power cable as I will be fitting 0 gauge cable in the Leon. :)

Na not mine, mate of mine, hes selling it so he can buy a v6 coupe, and plans on supercharging it. His install was a definete head turner.

Think I will wait and save a few more pennies for the sub & amp then....

Finished all the respraying and re-fitted the centre console.... looks pretty good, couple of spots I didnt get perfect but then im no professional! Just waiting for the side vents to dry overnight then will sort some pics out tomorrow if anyone is interested...
