Leon Tdi FR 170 owners - Milltek DPF removal downpipe

Wanting to Remap my car and have been holding off and holding off to see what comes of the DPF issue...

Milltek seem to have a downpipe to remove the DPF. Who has fitted this and what are your experiences?

I do not think anyone on this site has had a DPF removal yet (or they have not posted it) but as far as i know there is not a trouble free DPF removal and remap yet,it can be done but there is still sensor issues ie lights on your dash once DPF is removed!

So, at the minute, whats the best performance figures out there for a remap on an FR Tdi that still has the DPF?

Anyone on here thought about or completed another stage after a remap? Seen a few HYbrid Turbo jobs on Ibizas and Fabias... is this something that could be looked into for the Leon FR?

with the DPF in place you can potentially get 220bhp. but some cars will map nowhere near this figure. most cars get around 200bhp after remap. changing the standard turbo to a hybrid turbo with the DPF in place is a lost cause. you'll never get the full potential of the hybrid turbo with a DPF, especially the low rev potential.
my schedule for DPF delete is earlier next year, but if it becomes available early i might consider bringing it forward. so far my suspension is sorted, brakes getting upgrade later this month. the last thing in my project is the DPF delete remap.

They do have a working solution, including the map.

So contact them guys if you want the DPF removed with the custom map to compenstate for it.

Why next year? what development are you waiting on can i ask? Is there a specific company you are keeping an eye on?

Have you been quoted any potential figures for performance gains with DPF removed and a custom map in place? Also what sort of price are you looking at? PM me if you can.

so far custom-code have a VW passat with a DPF delete at 227bhp. this is up from standard 175bhp. It's a fair increase tbh. the DPF removal on it's own yielded almost 15bhp.
plus your looking at 10-15% better economy from the vastly reduced back pressure from removing the DPF and map.

white lady to anwser you question about the wait. I've spent over £3k in mods on the space of 3 months. i think it's time to save a little. I have provisions set aside for the DPF delete, but want to save up a little and see how things go first.

in the mean time i probably going get a performance cat back exhaust to compliment the dpf delete pipe, a short shift kit, and induction kit.

Have you thought about the fact that with a DPF delete, the torque figure will probably go through the roof and an uprated clutch may also be required. i think £2-2.5k is what i'm budgeting for. If it's less all the better.

@ White lady, i had serious issues with my DPF on the car and looked into the Miltek option. One tuning shop said it was great, and he was only authorised place here to fit them, went to another tuning garage about 10 miles up the road and he was blantly honest with me saying that Miltek had pulled their product because this wasn't a 100% cure. Yes cars are putting in the region of 220 BHP, but after couple thousand miles, serious problems start to arise, worst i heard was a car blocked the pipe, choked up causing it to overheat and then set the car on fire.

So i didnt convert mine, and even decided against a re-map. And to cure the on-going issue of the DPF forcing car to do bad things, SEAT garage had to replace exhaust sensors and never had problem since.

So my advice is do a bit more research before getting the work done.

i would probably go by saying, not to rush into a DPF delete. there is obviously a market for it and only a matter of time til a solution becomes available. If u do decide to get it done, do so by a well-known tuner. this is why i'm in no rush to get it done. diesel performance tuning is fairly new compared with petrol tuning and DPF delete are in there infancy. i just hope a solution comes out soon rather than later. diesel tuning ftw

thay are vw skoda seat specs and have run the program for months you cant just put this on the market

£1300 is a pretty good price tbh with a milltek full system. but i would still recommend an uprated clutch maybe with a lighter flywheel help pick up.

suggestion - a full Milltek with DPF delete then a map from a top tuner within Northern Ireland? or would they not be able to do this? I dont fancy travelling across the water. I also dont fancy wasting money and going for a map without DPF delete as performance gains will not meet the full potential of the car...

Seeing as alot of cars are running close to 200bhp as standard with the DPF and without a remap, £1300 for a 20 to 25bhp gain seems alot of money to me.....
