• Hey Guest💡👉 We have just launched our new Dealer Directory and review service Find out more now
I think I'll stick with my factory 197bhp & 43mpg, this sounds tooooo much trouble

You had yours RR'd at 197?

My standard PD170 @ xxxbhp feels good but the MPG im getting at moment is 40-45 and i want more

So more MPG and More BHP & lb.ft is to tempting

Had to buy new lambda today at £113 fitted tommorow by j gracie, it defo is the map causing these sensors to go, as my car is a 58 plate had it since it was 6months old august, with 6.5k on it, its now 13k. And before dpf delete there was no sensor issues. This better be the end of it tomorrow. J.Gracie is fitting for free. In total this has cost me £800 for map £325 for 3 sensors, one EGT sensor being the wrong one ordered[:@]. And £40 to my local mechanic for fitting the two egt sensors. So that £1165 excluding travelling 110 mile round trip 3x to customcode. THis is a tight month for me as i'm paying £2000 insurance in a 1ner on the 27th! So i am not best pleased. And Andy mpg difference for me so far has probs been slightly worrse than my stage 1 Angel TUning remap. Maybe it will improve when the lambda is replaced.

How you doin, i was goin to book into j gracie next month for a re map, im seeing a few horror stories about these re maps and its starting to put me off, i was wanting the better mpg and the extra power

After wathchin this thread for a while it looks to me like it is all about who is doing the delete. I think any tuner carrying out this mod needs to appreciate that it is a major alteration to the car and not a 2 minute job and needs some proper research, I feel for BIGG addicted as £1200 in the current economic climate is a lot of money and for the tuner to blame the sensors is out of order - he paid his money in good faith!

Hi,

I was one of the first to have a DE-DPF done on my Leon by Custom-Code/JBS.

My car was used for the development of the DE-DPF.

My car has done 15k since the DE-DPF and I have no issues what so ever, no engine lights, no DPF lights, not limp mode and I do not get excessive amount of smoke and the car has also passed a smoke test. Not to even mention the tremendous amounts of power the car has.......

If you have had a DE-DPF, your car should definitely not be going into regen mode as this will damage the engine with no DPF attached.

From posts which I have read it appears that the engine map which AMD are providing is insufficient so please do not confuse with the sufficient work which Custom-Code are providing.

If you want a map which works and is proven go with a business which is proven! (Custom-Code/JBS).

I now feel even more pleased that I decided to go with Custom-Code after discovering people are having issues with AMD 

Thanks,
Lee

Ever since sensors have been replaced with mine no problems. Phenominal power, and fuel economy isn't to bad but not as good as i expected, it is a bit better than standard although my car was only standard for max 2hours after i got it, but not or doesnt seem to be as economical as my car with stage 1, however the cold weather may have played apart. But power is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next week i'm getting my Eibach sportlines fitted as well:)

Thats good news :)

My Leon seems to be getting a slightly lower MPG since the cold weather too, i believe this to be due to the fact that cold air is denser so the mass is higher which then requires more fuel to be injected to get the most out of the combustion process and to keep the temperature within limits in the cylinder? If somone can confirm this?

My others halfs diesel is also using slightly more diesel with the cold weather, this also applys to petrol engines too.

Thanks,
Lee

Yep that sounds a bout right. Engines should in theory produce slightly more power when its sucking in cold denser air though so MPG slightly \/ bhp slightly /\

just my thoughts to the people thinking about getting a DPF delete...

i wouldnt bother. i had a nightmare, similar to the OP's.

Managed to get (some) of my money back and now i have my DPF back on! thank god!!!

Hi J8YPC

You had an EGR fault, completely unrelated to the DPF delete pipe and tuning.

You decided to have your DPF re-installed as you was not satisfied with the 218bhp the car was producing.

As advertised we state 'We have seen increases between 220-240bhp'

This obviously varies on the vehicle.

You might consider 2bhp to be a nightmare, but I think the majority would be pleased with the gains.

Its just funny how my car was completely trouble free before it entered custom codes doors.

I didnt mention any companies involved in my first post, just my experience of DPF off maps. I could have gone to town about how i was treated, but i didnt, i think we better leave it at that!

;)

J8YPC its important to understand that making the car produce more power than orginally specified does put a little extra strain on components, so any underlying issues are more likly to arise, having said that i have had absolutly no faults or issues since my dpf delete.

I personally had an EGR and EGT fault on my car before anybody mapped it, then when Seat fixed it they also updated my ECU to the latest version which made my car drive like a pile of crap... it hesittated and it sempt like they had reduced the power by about 20% and also the revs would seem to hang between gear changed. At that point i went to Custom Code.

I would personally recommend that you try the DE-DPF again, as i personally believe that your EGR was already on its last legs and the map tipped it over the edge, i think if you were to get the de-dpf with the replaced component that you will not have any issues.

Im being completly honest here.... i have been running for about 15k on dpf delete without any problems... i do 60 miles a day, before the dpf delete my car was a nightmare.

just read that if you guys fit uprated injectors next you can see 300hp!

Yep VW Racing had there 2.0TDI Van running 300bhp but its not just injectors i think its a hybrid turbo aswell

The injectors cost close to 5k aswell

**** that, im sure a cheaper solution will come along, there are some big power pd140's out there.

Yeh exactly what i thought tbh if your De-DPF makes 240bhp then surely a Hybrid Turbo would put you at nearly 300 anyway

If the std injectors can flow enough. I think pd mike has uprated injectors in his a3?
