Toyo Proxes T1R v Uniroyal Rainsports tyres v Goodyear Eagle

What are peoples thoughts on the above and if you've owned more than one of them, which was better and why?

Road noise, grip in dry and in wet...stuff like that

Toyos and Uniroyal can be had for £340 fitted, the Goodyears are £370 fitted...

i've had all three for the Leon if that helps

Eagles - good in the dry but not so good in wet and terrible in snow/ice.
Proxes - I fould them as very ordinary tyres better in extreme wet and snow than the eagles
Uniroyals - I have liked these actually jack of all trade but master of none though. if its between these and proxes i'd go these

If you generally drive the car in good conditions etc or if these are summer tyres only go for eagles for sure. All round tyre for 12 months of the year go for the uniroyals

I only do 6,000 miles a year max so will be ages until i need to renew whatever i decide to buy. So they'll go through all conditions. I don't really drive very hard unless conditions generally good.

none were that excessive trying to remember back probably the F1's were the worst but not excessive and not a massive difference between the 3.

Have a look at the 195 45 16 proxes 4 on camskill.
Just got them myself and they are performing very well.
and for £40.95 each its a steal

rainsports are great, perfect for uk weather. considering that, they still perform when they need to. my friend has them on the back of his 320bhp S15 and they do a good job of keeping it straight, unless you act like a tit. do a better job on the eagle f1's that were on there before, but they werent the old 'GSD3' models, as i dont think they make em anymore (they were brilliant, shame they changed the 'recipe')

Had t1r' and eagles on mine, both very predictable grip.
Although I find the rate these toyos are wearing flipping shocking lol like they are made of Easter egg chocolate!
But they are cheaper!

t1r's are known for wearing quite fast. they're quite a soft compound.

rainsports (if they're the newer models) tend to last quite some time. they are very good tyres.

I used Toyo T1-Rs for some years - until I tried the Uniroyal Rainsport 2s.

The Rainsport 2s give phenomenal grip, not just in the wet as you might expect, but in the dry too. IMO better all round than the Toyo.

i can't fault the T1R's really...especially the fact that they're a LOT quieter than other brands at high speeds and they do give you enough grip wet or dry, however, as mentioned previously they seem to prefer wet or dry on both extremes and adequate performance in between

at £66 a tyre for 15k miles I couldn't sway any other way really...especially compared to the standard P-Zero's, but I haven't tested any other brands as it's hard to find good tyres in 215/17 and not 205/17

i vary my drives from normal to spirited and they haven't let me down yet, wearing very well after 6k miles

I had the proxies on my clio 172, they were superb in dry but shocking in the wet, and wore down very quickly being so soft.

I'd go with the eagles
