yep, 260 max "real" bhp on my dyno on stage 1 or 2, 210/225 motors thus far

think that 180g/s is a 225bhp motor (1.25 conversion)
get 216g/s and you *could* be in the 270bhp region

how much do you think is left in a k04 which cannot sustain much more than a bar of boost at 6krpms or more..

the more i see and dyno, the more data i wil have, but the numbers most commonly touted do not replicate here, and do not corrspond to required mass airflows.

with your mods, it should run well of course when setup optimally
good luck with it.

I dont mean to sound sarcastic or anything (Far from it infact)
but how come people consistently speak dyno figures of 260+ bhp on various dyno's yet you claim that you wont get a "Real" 260?

Whats a real 260?
Curious :)

Thanks Bill

I see your point though Small turbo On Bt simular power...Id to give up on the WMI as i need a new clutch so il be ordering a SouthBend through sammy but it will be interesting to see what it could make...

Im going for apr stage 2 with v-tune but once its been RR'd at awesome i woulnd'nt mind a day trip downsouth to you to compare RR to see what you think..

you up for that?

yes, no probs.. its all good info to compare and contrast..

honesty is what you get with bill rather than dream figures,260 from bill would be that give or take 10 maybe a real 260 from others would be 290/300 thats my theory anyway.

not a sarcy question at all mate,

a real 260bhp is what i believe these actually produce
reason i say this is my dyno reads std cars as std power, i log airflows and a whole bunch of other data on a lot of cars, and correlate this to as read dyno (now i have one of my own) and the 260bhp cars i have seen so far correlate with their airflows pretty well.

torque between them varies, as does boost levels, but almost all the k04's are actually max'd out at the top end, which is why they converge onto the 260bhp level, despite some having much differing torque's mid range etc.. at the 1.0-1.2bar level they can pump at the top end, they can only flow what they can flow... Small other differences being timing and cooling related, but they do all converge on the same top end numbers.

I say real, as much asI have been around dyno's as as punter for more years than I care to mention, a lot of them, read on the happy side of life.. More do than dont in my experience. DD & Mainline Dyno rollers atw figures being closest to mine, but I dont care for their lack of coastdown calc/factoring for the flywheel number there after.

those with dyno's of 280+ are just not realistic on stock k04 turbo'd cars. I would be happily proved wrong however. Someone on here with a 280+bhp car come on down and we will compare..

I am as much intrigued into the results as the next person, more so, as I am in the business, and now have my own dyno tool, which is a superb BS filter for those selling stuff with xyz promise of gains, which are often not realised in power/torque. We all know also numbers sell product, and thats why those selling and maketting their products do so on the happier side of life numbers more often than not. If they did'nt they simply loose business to those that do.

As per my signature tag, you get honest advise from me and results are what they are. I am an engineer first and foremost, not a salesman. Upside I guess, if you make good power on my dyno, you wont be dissapointed elsewhere ;)

regards
bill

Well said bill, also I back up what you are saying, me and Kirsty thought you were spot on, nice guy and very good honest advice. As one of your customers I left more than happy last week, the information you gave me was spot on. My car is now running like a dream after one trip to your place. This is down to your experience and looking at things in depth. I will be returning to you for all my work that needs doing in the future. My local garage is now a thing of the past as they don't look at things in depth. Well done bill another happy customer :)

Well I'm a bit confused, I'm running a K04 it has a custom GRS intercooler and pipework, 3" downpipe etc and my exhaust is about 1m shorter than most and it did bigger numbers on a nice cold day.

What Is the top numbers??

I saw a K04 run 345bhp on Sunday.
Are you sure that is not a K04 tfsi turbo and not a mk1 LCR k04 turbo.
k04 tfsi have 35lb/min compressor wheels fitted and are roughly capable of 350 bhp whilst its smaller cousion k04 only has a 26lb/min compressor wheel.
Only a hybrid k04 on a happy dyno could flow that.

If I'm about that way at some point I'd be happy to pop in -- Both Awesome and RSTuning's rollers have stuck mine at just under 280, both read 230 when the car was standard.
Next time is probably between christmas and new year though =/

Is it a 225 or 210 as standard. what airmass g/sec is she pulling.
To give you an idea of air flow , i needed an air mass reading of 260 g/sec to break the 300bhp barrier, so when i see people posting with like 215g/sec at say 280bhp i think to myself maybe not.;)

Sorry guys the mini is mine,

It's a AMK running it's standard turbo??

The downpipe and exhaust is 3" and is very short.

It's also running a GRS intercooler and pipe work, boost is 22psi max and holds very steady.

It's seriously fast spinning the 888s on demand even in third.

Will even ran it on the dyno twice to be sure but it did run big numbers??
