Recently i had been suffering some problems, choke not working, tcs light on etc etc

I fitted a new maf yesterday and all is back to normal but one thing is bugging me.

My car now makes loud pops on every gear change, slow or hard driving it doesnt matter, and also loud pops on every down change too.

Now after i fitted the LCR fuel pump in April (7 months ago now) i was hoping for this sort of popping and banging but its never done it lol

I was worried that after fitting the new maf the car wasnt running right hence the pops and bangs, but to drive, the car feels smoother and better than ever before, readings on the wideband gauge are normal etc.

Could it be that my maf may have been faulty for all these months and ive not known?

Or is this a sign of a problem?

I dont know what to think, loving all the pops and bangs all the time but its just wierd how its started doing it after fitting a new maf, but the car feels better and smoother than ever to drive!

Any suggestions/possibilities?

I used to find mine popped and banged everytime I fitted something new as the ecu hadnt adapted to it..
Your old maf may have been dying for some time and the ecu has adapted to this, and now you have fitted the new one its not quite sure whats going on.. pops and bangs normally mean lean and flames when its rich.
Whats the wideband guage saying? Give the ecu time to adapt and it might stop.

Makes sense

Its always let off the odd pop but never to this extent

Would it be worth disconnecting the battery for a bit and go from there?

Wideband readings are normal mate, 14's when just cruising and low 12's on WOT

Yeah might be a good idea to reset the ecu.
You may find it stops doing it so much after a few hundred miles..
AFR's sound about right though, I wouldnt worry too much mate

Since BT mine hardly pops ad bangs at lower revs but on the motorway it's a different story. It could be to do with narrowband ECU, because it hasn't got EGT protection as such or a wideband to tell it accurately how much or little fuel it needs it chucks in a load or takes a load out causing more erratic fuelling which maybe resulting in the noises.

It's a theory I have spoken to certain people about but we haven't been able to decide for sure. I do miss the around town pops though :(.

Been a very up and down month

Car had been left for a while un touched and filthy i lost the love with it tbh

Knew a lad who was selling a supra, and boom had the car up for sale

Lots of usual dreamers and time wasters

Best message i recieved was "hi im interested in the car but im only 18 and worried about insurance, my dad says you cant add any value for modifications on a car and we can come and pick it up if you would accept £1350

I politely told him to jog on!

Anyway after ringing my insurance i found they had mis-quoted me on a car i was interested in buying (supra tt) and put it down as a uk car not import (thought they would have known thta especially as i told them lol) so that quote doubled!

Luckily i found this out before i had sold my car and not after

I was pretty pissed off but it kind of kicked me into spending some time on my car.

I had a good long blast in the car this weekend and god i loved it, Washed it and sorted a few niggles that were bothering me, Went out again and seriously enjoyed every minute :)

Its actually an awesome car lol :)

Yep made me laugh though

Glad i didnt sell the car before finding out about the insurance though, would have actually cried tbh lol

Its not all doom and gloom though, i get to keep my car and have more fun with it

The supra was running 400 ponies though, thats the reason i didnt think twice about advertising mine lmao

Waiting for a big box of goodies to arrive mate, loosing a bit of momentum tbh. I have been helping a mate with his k04 hybrid ibiza build which has been keeping me busy!
I should have a few big updates coming in the next month or so.

Few little cheeky buys this week

Its Christmas, ive bought everyone else gifts so thought id get the car a few too :D

Ordered myself a Forge UNOS boost controller
Aerocatch locking bonnet catches
Genuine OMP Corsica 330mm steering wheel in suede with red stitching

Was thinking of wrapping them up and not letting the car have them all until Christmas :cheeky:
