Looks good Dave, think you need to add skirts though then it will be perfect. That was the one thing that drove me nuts about my motor was seeing the damn seem underneath the car when walking towards it.

Looking good.

NOW - a pair of cupra black headlights and a carbon wrap on the front grill chrome will see it looking even better - haha

Was just thinking that myself looking at those pics. That would make it almost as evil looking as my old Mk1 leon [B)] Got my spoiler fitted at the weekend there but haven't had a chance to get any photo's yet with this weather :( it's been constantly pishing it down for days now n the roads are pure rotten!!

What spoiler? Oh you mean that tiny wee extension?? Oh that was there when I got it :D

Yeah it's been wild here, Dublin got it way worse though, Tallaght Bypass was metres deep in water, some shopping mall that had a downstairs level ended up like a giant waterfall!! Mental!!

Got my spoiler today, thanks to Dave at SERE.

Dont know what to do with it though. Had a quick look at the fitting instructions and it is saying to paint white with the two fin bits black. I hadnt thought of doing this i was just going to get it all white to match the car.

Im in two minds now and need opinions!!!

I had a look at the back of the spoiler and it has two bits which bolts would go into, i thought it was just glued on??

It is just glued on, don't worry.

In terms of having it two tone,
I adapted the idea for my spoiler

(more pictures in my readers ride thread)

Been told that the pictures don't do it justice and it looks better in the flesh.

The other option is to have the tips white and then have the roof and centre bit of the spoiler painted/wrapped black

Again, not a white car but same idea

I like the idea of the black roof and white tips. I was wanting the back around the number plate in black (like the fr) so I could just get it the spoiler painted fully white and then get it wrapped with the roof to make sure it looks good.

Thanks for the idea!!

I'd go for what you are suggesting. Get the spoiler painted white to match the car, fit it then vinyl wrap the roof black and have the vinyl extend onto the main body of the spoiler up to the seem line. This would leave the 2 spoiler tips white. Id also agree that you should get the panel behind the rear number plate wrapped in black vinyl. I think the finished result would look great! Pretty much like the red Ibiza in nightflight's reply :D

I think thats what I will do. Will try get it all done by end of feb. Was a much easier decision than i thought, I didnt fancy black tips and white is just boring so the black and white sounds good.

I was looking earlier at aerials on the forum, and someone said to get the roof done in vinyl the aerial had to come off. That involved taking the head lining down inside the car which I dont fancy. Does the aerial have to come off?

Cheers

You need the side skirts. Check mine out with spoiler and skirts:

Yes I agree! :) However due to my pishy insurance company all major mods are on hold as they charge a totally outrageous premium for any modifications. Can’t remember the exact amount but it was over £150 when I enquired about the tailgate spoiler! Yes you read right, £150 plus added to the insurance premium for a flipping tiny piece of plastic!!!! Luckily I just said I was thinking about adding a spoiler. I reminded them I was 48 with a full NCD, not 18 and therefore not a boy racer (no disrespect to the younger owners on here) and that it was not a huge whale-fin job but subtle OEM equipment. The phone representative sounded verrrry sheepish and just said it was up to the underwriters as they set the costs....

They can take my £150 and shove it right up their lardy.....:censored: LOL

Come August these items will seriously be considered for purchase! :) Insurance gets renewed then!

Elephant were good for me regarding mods. I inquired about spoiler + wheels and they premium didn't change. But suspension and exhaust added £50.

Thats the problem today - the insurance companies just use computers for the calcs.

And now that sexism and ageism is technicalliy banned - they treat everyone like the youngest driver.

Just goes to prove that the cheapest insurance quote isn't always the best.... Having never significantly modified any cars of mine before, it never occurred to me to ask about the insurance company's premium loadings for popular modifications. Won't be making that mistake again! lol

No idea about the ariel having to come off when vinyl wrapping... Wouldn't have thought this was vital, but what do I know?? LOL Perhaps you should post a new thread on this topic and I'm sure you'll get replies. :)

Make sure you post pics of the finished job. Sounds like it'll be really nice! :D

Post no11,blobs all the way round,HTH.

Small blobs the size of a small grape sounds good.is the half a cm gap between each blob correct or should it be bigger say the same size as the blobs.
Thanks for the quick reply
