SW update for MIB2 infotainment system?

Feels like it's a downgrade from a train that you aren't suppose to be on, on that hardware . What Jpmedia said... sort of inline with what we are saying or make do with what you got e.g.. upgrade on the train you are suppose to be on for the hardware. We need a table.

Special sauce I guess that's on specialist chat groups.... Feels like a buyer beware if buying mib2 standard units. Sometimes wonder whether advise is being given to prep mib2 standard units that are to be sold or bought. Call me cynical.

OK. I am not an expert in this. So would like to know which modules I should unselect/select before the update. I have a MIB2 standard with 6.5inch screen.
But if I understand correctly, it might still brick my unit?

Is that not the Skoda firmware on that unit ?. SKG so they need Skoda firmware or they have picked up a Skoda unit and put it in a Seat.... hence they need a bit of code to make it look like a Seat. Presume they then need the AIO unless it keeps the Skoda FeCs in the process of becoming a Seat. We know Skoda navigation FeCs work fine.

Skin still looks very much like SEAT and not Skoda.

Maybe someone just played with the unit already...

Use the 1447 AIO:

Delete this from metainfo2.txt:

and remove the #:

This will enable the AIO to install over your FW and also run a full SWDL updating all packages.

Thanks to @Rsjay

All works fine with 1219. I wanted to keep the yellow menu. So everything is perfect. :D

Was Mib Wiki's and Rsjay's fix the same. Presume the orange colour comes from using the outline colour fixes published and linked earlier on the thread not built into ambient lighting link.

I see the radio icons are blank. Did they remain tuned in and just need the icon selected or returned. 2018 is when I last had a firmware update so can't remember. Mib Tool last year but that just adjusted FeCs. Took the easy option.

Just in case I do the 1447 AIO update later in the year. POIs and destinations retained ?. I have a lot 🤣.

Tell there is no colorfix 😂Thats fw 1219 ....Radio icons are blank because update was userdefined and all packages updated....
Why a Firmware update should wipe POIs ?

My July 2018 Leon FR went into a Seat dealer yesterday for an MOT.
On collection I was told, "A software update has been applied to the entertainment system". I can't see any differences. I'll check the release code tomorrow & post it on here.

Just a bit worried that a 1447 AIO won't go on a deleting mission. POIs and destinations remained intact when a retrofitter did 1338 in circa 2018 and made a bit of a mess of it. I've spent four nights in hotels when the retrofitter then messed stuff up. TSR was the one he messed up and took a day to sort out as well as selling life long when it was 12 months 😨. Hence I published the FeC lookup table so others wouldn't be taken for a ride.

Anyhow it's whether a big radio retune is the question or just loading the images back in. Ambient lighting is what I have keyed into the surround display colours. Those that come with units without ambient lighting seem to have the issue of fixing the display colours on older models. That's what we seem to have learnt.

Should give a plug to Jpmedia who kindly sorted out 1338 with the Skoda FeCs and Mib Tool. How you got your additional Mib Tool module from my backup.

If mib2 a check of the Mibsolution's website to see whether if it's listed. Fixes were rolled out for AA and Car Play. I cant see they would be fixing much else. On legacy now. We know 1447 is the end of the road and probably 516 on the recent 5 trains. The others are fixes. The published TPIs aren't published except on the dealer networks and leaks as to what they fix.

At my previous 2 services I was offered an update to the Infotainment system (think it was 91U4) which I declined as it would have removed my 'Mods'.

I've never been offered any on the infotainment system but I always say, that ones not the infotainment system is it ?, they say no. Think you are on the one before 1447 so perhaps they are offering you 1447 and if you had AIO you have the mods. What you don't really know is whether their records are up to date or whether the system when plugged in determines they can improve on what you have in their terms.

There was a German case I read on the Digital Eliteboard board where a guy bought a second hand car, was told by it's owner it had it's infotainment unit modded and how to update the maps, he couldnt update the maps, probably the map Mac issue and not knowing he needed to use CleanMyDrive on the SD drive after unzipping. Could have been the FeC issue like our retrofitter's poor handy work e.g.. not life long navigation FeC but set short to get extra work so the maps wouldn't load, one of the two. Took it to a dealer. Told them, so they returned it back to how it was factory supplied without the maps working (not how it was supplied). He wanted to know how to restore the mod. The dealer probably didn't know they had to restore the original map release if they were going to do that to fully restore it in a working condition with old maps. Dealers aren't software engineers. Mind you probably only a German dealer would embark on this, a rules based solution 😨.. which made it worse.

My old Essex dealer was quite understanding that people mod the infotainment unit and wasn't interested. Similar here. I was going to say only mib2 high units would suffer from this issue but a mib2 standard where they had used a retrofitter to mod the firmware for the map update rather than use the workaround would have the same issue I guess, hinges on whether the FeCs get returned to the factory setting on any firmware update. The German one described above they did, normally it shouldn't happen that a firmware update alters the FeCs, only if they alter the FeCs would this happen as part of a firmware update, normal infotainment firmware update does not touch the FeCs. The navigation FeCs stand outside of a firmware update. Think this was part of the hocum our old retrofitter gave us to secure repeat business.

I know very little about the different units. What's the difference between 'Low' & High? Mine has Sat-nav.
Does it use a map card in an SD slot ?. If so it's a mib2 standard. Should say 6P as the map release although that's changed now.

A mib2 high, doesn't use a map card. Stabbing away at the media button will bring you round to "Jukebox" on a mib2 high. The maps are stored in internal memory on the mib2 high, spare memory is used for the Jukebox. You can copy your music to that from an SD and play from that. Circa 10gb is available for that.

There are other ways to tell from serial numbers but physically a few checks can be made plus a date of manufacture and release of the car seals what the unit is, circa 2015 - 2019 was the mib2 period. Mib1 5 years prior to that. Mib3 after to now.

Some people do replace mib1 with mib2 units so that fails the model release year check if that's been done, the juke box check works thou to identify a mib2 high. Other wise you are looking at serial release codes of the hardware, firmware and software. An alternative.
