lancashire.
Always a bad feeling when you lose a tool, worse when you lose it in a scrapyard.

Pretty good feeling when you go back two days later and it's exactly where you left it
had that a few times on different sites.. i was gutted the other day as a bent my favorite drill bit on a home job the other day, ive got loads but i always pick that one lol

Just had my Cupra R on the rollers at Badger 5 - made a healthy 228hp stock. After a remap, it is pushing 280hp and feels like a totally different car.
when i had my Pd mapped it was same, no lag and smooth though power range and better after removing the restrictive cat

I used to go to our local scrappy with my sister. We'd have a mental list of what we were looking for, but tactically, without letting on we were desperate, would try to get things thrown in & because my sister was older & blonde, they took the bait 😁 Sometimes my pockets were lined with small bits, slipped in of course. 🫣

Amazing they lasted so long. Letting people loose in scrapyards would be an H&S nightmare today!

Well I had a mate who could av been a boyzone lookalike, but I don't think that would've 🤔 worked as well as ur sister lol. Yeah we use to hide a few small bits in the tool boxes, think most came away with more than they went in with. Good day's.

You're definitely not wrong mate, think it was safer when I had a surfing lesson than climbing up them poorly balanced motors ontop of each other 😆, u were ready for a afternoon pint after a scrapyard visit.

Still want to get mine remapped. New clutch is bedded in now but I still need to clean the intake manifold so I can get better airflow. Drove to the Peak District and back this past week and I can feel it choking at low revs (which made crawling round the M25 stressful). The thought of the clutch pedal snapping wormed its way into my head too, which gave me the fear.

Service seems to have done some good though - more than 60mpg on the way up and 57 on the way back - even with all the bank holiday traffic. Amazing fuel consumption, lower tax and insurance, polybushes in all the right places, rear ARB, now if only the power range were a bit more usable, I wouldn't want a Cupra R anymore...

Maybe...

That's great mpg the cupra r could only ever dream of that and its owerners 😆, I bet these pick their feet up with a remap don't they, mine does about 33 with behaving it self and drops to half or worse if u drove like you stole it, love to hear what others here get with the R's I mean its great fun but definitely at a cost like what you described above mate.

mine isnt the R but its a stage 1 mapped AUQ with loads of mods and on a long drive in 6th I get upto 48mpg, round the town around 20 odd mpg, mixed is about 30-35mpg, I'm quite happy with what it does for what it is.
