Out of interest, was that 228 completely stock? Do you have a Badger 5 TIP?
Well I ve upgraded couple things. By writing stock I meant that nobody mapped it before. I had bigger central intercooler, cobra exhaust and new tip ( not badger 5 )

I'd be interested but I'm presuming mine is a face-lift model. But I don't know. Only thing that's been changed on mine is the air filter and exhaust which could be oem. And it's an R

Had the photo shoot with the Top Gear magazine team the other day.
Interesting to watch how they get the shots etc.
Will be in the December issue in the Retro section of Top Gear magazine.
I’ll do a little write up on the days events when I get some photos.
It was a Cupra R he wanted after all.
Did you have to travel far. And I hope they pay you for the pleasure

You don’t get paid, but they cover fuel and lunch. ( Tesco meal deal from the boot of their car) :ROFLMAO:
Also get all the photos they took and a couple of mags when it comes out.
Getting some coverage of a Cupra R in a mainstream magazine is good though.
Will get the attention of people who wouldn’t have given them a second thought otherwise.
Hopefully the yellow should pop in print.

Rear exhaust hanger has snapped in two. Normally you'd just weld it back on, but the catback has seen better days so makes more sense to put the £100 on welding towards a replacement.

Would have liked a Milltek, but they're discontinued and a Cobra now costs an insane £600. I remember when you could get a catback for £300.

Luckily there was a second one on eBay for £290, so had no choice really. No name, but looks a decently made custom jobby.

My car is still stuck with garage, still with a bust braking system. I regret ever taking it & must admit the sh8 people have given me for looking after this old car has been insane, everyone seems to feel a scrapyard is the answer. I am close to calling it a day, wrapping him up (when I finally get it back) & letting it be an ornament on my driveway. I've never felt this down about it in the 15 + years I've had MK1 Leon's.😔

Have they said what the issue is, and don't let other people mates or even family get you down about having some pride in looking after anything let alone an older car, ive had people say that to me at points, with ur wasting your time and money my response is my time and money nothing to do with you, keep your chin up mate he will soon be back on his drive way, people just don't respect much these days.

What's up with the brakes?
Took it in to have all new brake lines a few weeks ago, (an advisory last year), but always had impeccable brakes & very well maintained.
Had it back twice but both times never made 15 mins, soft pedal & poor braking, then once warm, seize on, then when cool, no pedal, air whooshing, foam all over the car mat.
Having new calipers next, but it didn't need them before. Not my trusted garage so don't think I'll be feeling those brakes like I'm used to. My own fault.

Thanks mate, appreciate it, just £££'s for garage bullsh8 atm. Will be happier when I can get it back & probably have it redone 🫣
You're right about the respect thing, they don't get why you care & actually enjoy something.
I'll let you know how it gets on, hopefully in a few days. 🤞

you can get newer cars out there that a way less reliable and the people that say its old wait until there daylight led running lights go as you cant replace the LED its the whole light and the prices start as £800, also some door locks can cost £1000 the price of parts are insane the garage that did my clutch and intercooler was telling me its was shocking and you have to use there parts on one car the add blue sensor was inside the light it made the cost of my repair cheap compared even clutch's you were looking at 1500- 2500 k on standard cars , so old or not your car will be cheaper to repair and at least you know the history
