Christmas Day drive tells me I'll be doing a lot of fiddly little jobs this year.

Nearside wing mirror seems to have been messed with, as it doesn't unfold properly now, so my view is just the side of the car.

Headliner is coming unstuck below sun visor, and I notice it all the time.

Need to take all four wheel arch liners off to clean behind them as offside front wing has rust at the bottom.

Coolant temperature sensor (Febi part) has never given an accurate reading - never sits in the middle of the range, even after an hour on the M27. Does this affect fueling at all? Will probably need to replace that, which means replacing the coolant too... Who's the OEM brand for these?

When hard on the noisy pedal, I can see some smoke coming out the back in people's headlights behind me. Could be a boost issue or overfueling - probably that blocked intake manifold again.

Few things on last year's MoT need sorting too. Sounds like the spring seats on the rear beam are on their way out, and I think my springs might be too.

Whole car feels a bit less 'together' than it has for a really long time. Definitely down on power and handling isn't tight like it was. Don't want to accept the ******* might be on its way out. Twenty-one years old in a few weeks...

Worst time of year to be working on it - it's brass monkeys out there at the moment...

Went and did some shopping today. Nearside wing mirror unfolded absolutely fine every time, car pulled fine without choking and first gear is back to being pretty much useless. There's not even any moisture on the windscreen, when that new Audi up the road is constantly steamed up. Even the passenger door lock isn't squeaking at the moment.

You'd think I'd be happy about all that, but all it's done is give me the fear. I'd much rather things just die so I can replace them, rather than be temperamental.

Still more reliable than my X74 Laguna ever was though.

my drivers folding mirror random never use to stop once fully out random even after pulling battery leads to reset in the end i bought a pair on ebay and come with covers as i could no just get a drivers mirror, the mirror covers can cost so it was not a bad deal, stripped the old one down and could not see any issues even the microswitch worked

The motor sounds like it's labouring a bit - I can definitely hear it on that side. I've never taken one off, but I'll see if the folding bit is serviceable and give the cover a clean and probably paint it matte black while I'm at it. It's on the kerb side, so the side that drunk people and lippy schoolkids wrestle with, so I'm not really surprised really.

its getting the spring off as its under heavy load and a right pain as there's is defiantly a special tool to get that off and once you do there's a gearbox with a worm gear, you may as well swap out the unit as i would of tried to fix it if that's the case , allot of parts are worth saving though

The ride has massively improved after sorting these two issues for its MoT. Didn't realise how crashy it had become.

Also zero advisories, which is a first.

I think I’ve busted my boot lock module. I can’t open the boot. Do I have to destroy trim to get to the module to open the boot? Or is there any easier way to do it??
