Cheers for that 👍 Think that's something I definitely need to check out.
what you are saying sounds like what i have had but since 2022 but i cleaned air filter out and had belt done since including the aux belt and i changed the pully as the same pulley at vw was ÂŁ170 but got same ini for ÂŁ25 .. been all around car and i think its since i cleaned the filter out as it was clogged even though you would look at it and it looked ok.. it still bugs me though

Sun is out & two cars finally getting a proper clean.
This is something I need to do, looks like now the weather is hopefully everyone's getting the buckets out, also my dad said try a long screwdriver on you alternator casing and but your ear to the plastic handle as you should be able to hear a whine or wobble if the alternator or bearings are playing up, old school mechanic tip lol

just before i got mine when my mate had it, he was driving along and the battery light came on, he stopped and checked and the belt was gone so he got it recovered home, phoned a mobile mechanic who came out to change the belt and he said your pulleys gone, my mate was like what you mean pulleys gone? the alternator clutch pulley had walked itself off and mustve fell out the bottom as it wasnt in the engine bay anywhere, most likely siezed clutch on it and just walked itself off, the spindle was fine so new pulley and belt and job was a goodun.

he is lucky the tensioner did not snap or break also as it takes that out, the aux belt saved him on that one, people forget the change that clutch pulley as it has a service life .. says it on the INI site the one i replaced it with was a upgraded version as it was fine it was just within the service miles even the mechanic said it was ok
