First bit of money spent on the car this year was for a much needed minor service at 110k.
All the car really needed was a oil change with the addition of some fully synthetic oil instead of the previous semi-synthetic crap its been running on for 10k.
Cars now running smoother and much quiter.
Decided there was too much chrome going on around the front end so out came the rattle cans...
Primed.
And fitted back to the car.
Was going to do the 'S' gloss black as well but it appears to be plastic welded in so this will have to wait until I can source a dremel to sand these away.
Also had a play with the engine cover to try and make the boring engine bay look slightly more interesting. Some spare carbon wrap resulted in this:
Actually looks pretty cool in my opinion.
And finally a quick photoshop to see what the future may hold for my suspension.
1) The 'S' surround comes out quite easily. Remove the black plastic along the top (4 clips), there are two tabs on the top of the centre grille and two low down that you cant see - release the top ones first and then pull the bottom away gentally. It will come away as long as your not too aggressive with it.
2) I love my C U P R A badge I like to imagine I have a C U P R A FR
Nice. I haven't noticed you got the Cupra rear bumper. Looks better than the R imo. I don't think you should touch the silver S. The black surround with the silver looks classy.
Well its been quite recently and I keep spending money on things i dont really need for the car so firstly New Shoes...
Yes perhaps I am mad once again 'downgrading' but i have returned to 17's, granted they are original FR+ wheels but bare with me...
How they arrived - The faces and spokes were in good condition but the inside of the rims were badly corroded and it would no doubt eventually creep round to the front of the rim so at this stage a session at the powdercoaters was looking likely.
Loaded up. (Getting four wheels fitted with tyres in a Leon is not easy)!
17mm FK spacers planned for the rear.
Back from the powdercoaters fitted and combined with the new spacer set-up.
Now at the moment I am in two minds over what to do. The clutch is slipping and getting slowly worse but I am desperate to get lowered 40mm on some Weitecs to give the wheels and car some more presence.
With the money i have saved I could either get it lowered, a new alternator belt fitted and my handbrake cable replaced (Both of the latter need doing) and have change to spare.
or I could buy and fit an uprated clutch, single mass flywheel and have no money left for any other mods/repairs but I could use my AmD remap to its full potential which I miss doing!
Cheers mate. I normally use the megs gel stuff but often forget to buff it to more of a matt finish this results in a **** load of 'fling' down the side of the car.
I really need to update this RR its miles out of date.
Something ive been meaning to do for a while was sort out a proper cold air feed as ive heard this can have a positive effect on the diesels.
I was a bit wary of seeing if i could make the feed 'ram' air from the fog lamp housing but after some hacking with a chisel and hammer at the back of the headlamp I managed to make quite a straight forward path for the tubing to fit through and within an hour it was all fitted. Anyway pics...
It all fits very nicely looks oem and the battery cover went back on without an arguement.
Performance gains in 1st and 2nd - Nothing. However 3rd and 4th gear the car pulls much harder and stronger especially from 3k onwards. I would recommend anyone do this - the 3 inch pipe cost me £13 quid and overall its certainly worth doing for the money.
What I will say with these types of feed is that you got to be careful that doesn't pick up water. Not talking about flooding but general rain water when driving as it soaks the air filter and hence can damage maf over a period of time.
Looks amazing by the way. Love how clean the car looks all the time!
