'99 Mk2 TDi cruise control probs

Hello

noob here looking for some info.

I just tried to order the stalk and loom as found in many guide for retrofitting cruise control (8L0953513J01C stalk and 1J0971425 loom) parts and activating the ECU?????????

but the dealer said its not possible fit these parts to the 99 models?? and referred me here to see if any of you guys knew??

not quite sure if i belive him, as i have the fly by wire throttle and if holding revs constant and hit the brake the revs drop off automatically.

anyone got any ideas on this???

can you activate it in your ECU? that'll be the way to tell
