ADVICE NEEDED ON dump valve SET UP

Fitting it backwards is just fitting it sideways, i.e. the small vacuum hose nipple is now facing the right as opposed to straight up.

I didn't notice a change in sound in the few hours I had it swapped. If I am honest, it was no louder than the OEM position did not change much in sound so I swapped it back. I feel more comfortable having it round the correct way it was intended.

ah cool thanks mate.. i might give this a try. just for the sake of it. My dv on my golf GTI 1.8T started fluttering once, but that was due to a perforated diaphragm in the stock valve hehe

sorry guys, just to reiterate, is it 100% ok to put the forge 007 on the other way round ... does it give same performance etc ?? not damaging etc?? and wont cause any management lights to come up ??

Is the "ONLY" difference the noise ?? is it like a "flutter" sound as you come off the gas?

cheers beforehand!!!

vin

Its perfectly safe mate! im sure i read somewhere that forge actually tested it either way and said it was safe and it worked better the other way round!!. It depends if you like a chirping?squeeking noise. Give it a go and see what you think. I didnt like it i thought the oem way made a lovely subtle sound when lifting off the gas.

you should fit it the correct way round... the other way will most likely stall the turbo (even if only slightly) you may not notice it when driving but even a few turbo rpms will be making an impact.

otherwise Vw wouldn't have a "correct fitting" of the standard and Forge would do the same in their instructions. you need both boost pressure on the correct side and vacume to activate the valve propperly...

and the flutter on a 007 fitted the opposite way round (if you get one) is all that pressure backfeeding the turbo (try blowing into a fan you get the same sound) -- it sounds good but is as useful to your cards performance as a chocolate tea pot is at holding hot tea!
