I've never dismantled any of mine 
All I do is.....use spray grease on the threads when first fitted then maybe 2-3 times a year when I have the wheels off I just remove the grease with a cleaner [something like a engine cleaner] then re grease them [just the threaded body]
I personally can't see why you'd need to clean them every month unless your constantly adjusting the ride hight.......but in my experiance you just leave it set at one hight unless your doing track days etc.
Or you could just buy shocks and springs and have even less hassle
