Time for some pics;
One of the biggest problems with the TDi's is the CVV which recirculates the exhaust gasses back through the intake taking mists of oil and eventually clogging up your intake and everything coming before it (residue in pipework/turbo etc) anyway, I've had a few different set ups and ended up opting for this one which seems to be the business.
Here are some pics of what was used - total cost around £150 (filter costing around £130 i think):

The ProVent opened up:

The system works great...I'll put up the installed pics up later tonight..

Does the Cam cause idle to run differently? and what power gain should you expect on a standard car?

Cheers

Nope my idle is exact same as standard, no problems there at all. On a standard car I wouldnt bother putting an uprated cam on it unless it was mapped for it.
An uprated CAM will allow more lift longer duration and if it is not mapped for it then your wasting money.

Ah okay sounds good, loving the CCV system!

So if I was to put a cam onto my car which has various minor mods compared to yours, and had it mapped for the cam, how much power gain should I expect on standard turbo and injectors?

Cheers

There are plenty ppl who claim in the range of 210-250bhp with just a map on the pd160, it all depends on how you want the car to run safe, smoke levels etc etc. But off the bat I would say you could gain in increase of at least 10hp with an uprated cam on a standard car and with mods easily 20hp. What is your car running? What mods do you have? If you haven’t done anything to it then the best power gains would be from a stage 1 map and get rid of some of the flat pancake pipework.

Here are some installed pics of my new CVV mod:

I've sat the filter alongside my oil filter housing and secured it nicely. Might re-route it to a different location but quite difficult to do with the lack of space for the ProVent itself.

Sits nicely (sort-of) under the engine cover, but I tend to keep the engine cover off anyway.

Your car is an inspiration u have done an amazing job I'll be watching this would love To have the money to do this my self.

One qwick question why have u not just sent the engine breather pipe out to atmospher under the car and blanked off the intake pipe why have u fitted this filter instead asking due to was going to take mine off and send it to amophere. Could u please explain why what I have done instead of what I was thinking of doing

Cheers and I love ur car

I have had it many different ways, venting to air, catch can, back through the inlet with a filter and nearly all are messy or not as effective or as easy as this set up in terms of maintenance.
If you leave it venting to air the trouble I had was once I turned the air on in the car the smell or fumes would come through which was not so pleasant. Also I didn’t like having smoke coming out my engine bay (or wherever you route the pipe to) every time I pulled up or was at a standstill.
There’s an oil mist which comes from the cam case and this also causes a mess wherever the pipe ends.
Overall it is ideal for a number of reasons. My intention was to find something which would be maintenance free or something which would require minimal maintenance which I think I have done :)
Hope this answers your question!

Well am a HGVmechanic for Volvo trucks and I was planning of blanking off the air intake then rooting the breather to the under side I the car.

And putting a volvo truck fuel tank vent filter on the end of the pipe so it didn't leve oil on the floor etc and due to I hve an unlimited serply of those filters so changeing them wouldn't cost.

Ok what I was worried about was the filter getting too blocked there for the engine not breathing casueing a fault

Now u said about the smell of oil in the cabin puts me offalso.
Looked into using a catch tank but that's basically the same as just going to atmosphere really.
So been left with leve it as it is or do something like u.

There is anoughter idea I have which is get a spinner which some models of tricks use to vent the crankcase fumes.

ONE thing I'd like to know is how long does it take for a vent filter to be quite blocked and require cleaning or changing

you will find you will have to change your filters at the end of the pipe which is venting to atmosphere on a daily basis as it will most likely clog up very quickly. It will also make your car smoke clouds of white smoke as the more restriction from the breather the more steam build up, which mixes with the oil and causes thick horrible white smoke to pour out the exhaust!

It is a ProVent filter made for specific applications and for me it is exactly what I needed. I would say it is definately worth doing, if not you just end up clogging up your intake, and no lights on the dash!

Cheers for that so I need the same thing u have then basically may I ask where u got it and what makes it do the job better thanks a lot u have been a big help.

Am basically just trying to make my car run about 215 bhp so was after as much a possible done before I remap it in the future.

Plus trying to get more reliablity

So any more tips would be very usefull

I will run mine for around 10000miles and report back on the amount of oil accumulated in the drain pipe, and if its less than 80ml then I can just cap off the botom of the housing as it can hold 75ml. I will also check condition of filter to see how often i will need to change it but i reckon it will be fine for ages and it is washable too!
The filter itself I can get you, the rest I bought from B&Q or any other local harware store. All it requires is some 90 degree bends, reinforced pipe for inlet and outlet and some pipe for the drain with a cap. I will get all the sizes later as I can't remember exactly (dont want to give the wrong info) but altogether apart from the filter £15 is more than enough to fund all the pieces and the filter itself is around £150 delivered.
let me know if you need a hand.
Uzi
P.s - what makes it do the job better-it has a special high density filter element which has a very long life (estimated between 50,000 - 100,000 miles) and is capable of catching not only the oil itself but the oil through the vapour which no other filter I have seen/used was able to do.
