alloy wheel refurb - DIY

just noticed there is a kit to do this yourself on ebay, anybody know if this is worth the money or are you best off just leaving it and getting it done properly?

I paid £55 per wheel to have mine done.
As long as thay are not bent or cracked you can do them yourself.

as dk said mate if there not bent or cracked give them a go your self, did mine about 3 weeks ago took a bit of time as they were scuffed to hell but well pleased how they come out

its just the scruffs on the rims where they have been kerbed before i got the car, might give it a crack then when i get the time over the summer before the national meet

How much is the kit?? If its cheap enough give it a whirl yourself.

If it is then only touching up of damage will be possible with 15ml of paint.

Yes you wont get a very good finish with a brush and the 'primer/filler' is not actually a proper filler its a high build primer that would not be suitable for heavy kerbing marks.

That before and after is photoshoped.

My wheels (17" Cupra ones) kinda look like the enamels coming off, or like they have a birthmark if you get what I mean?

How do you fix that?

Strip the affected areas down to bare alloy then etch prime and re paint

Might be easier to get them dipped/stripped if there really bad.
