i was just goin to say the same, this happened to my lcr when i had it, sat at the lights and it would smoke, drive off and it was fine until one day i was passing some traffic not at an excessive rate and the road behind me filled with smoke. i knew exaclty what it was, i took the intake off of the turbo and checked for movement on the impeller and it moved and 8-10mm side to side.

Might be worth checking your turbo mate, you should get a slight movement but no more than a mm or2 at most

that inlet looks too clean to be sucking in oil contaminated air, tried taking off a bottom intercooler hose to see if its collected there, just in the off chance it hasnt made its way through both intercoolers to the inlet

hot side of the turbo weeping, it looks like the air going through the TIP-Coldside of the turbo- Intercoolers-charge Pipes-Inlet-Cylinders-exhaust manifold isnt contaminated.... Its as it reaches the Hot side of the turbo to downpipe that the oil is weeping and under the temperatures of the downpipe and cat/decat is easily burning it up, hence the smoky rear end,

oohh maybe time for IHI or Hybrid :p

Danny,
my apologies for the late response. Throttle body looks clean to me so you are not "shitting" oil out the turbocharger. Possible to send for an inspection?

Really the only route bud is to do proper tests to determine the problem, have to agree it does sound like the turbo, but doing a compression test and testing the turbo/breather system is the way forward, to avoid guessing games?

been driving it for a few days around town without booting it and it hasnt smoked once..

Your quite welcome to send me a sample of your engine oil. I'll test it for free bud.

It might give me an idea of any worn parts, it might not......maybe worth a try though.

PM me if you want to send me some.

Re: LCR blowing blue Smoke (Once Very Hot HELP!!!)

How's it going any progress on finding out what the cause of the mysterious blue smoke is?

Mines started smoking too, I started it the other day and just left it idling for a minute and it was puffing a bit. At first I just thought it was steam but you could smell it was burning oil. But when driving it, it was fine.

Also mine is eating oil too. Is yours? It's almost gone through a litre bottle in 2000 miles.

Oddly I had it MOT'd the other day and it passed the emissions.

All ive done to the lcr is just drive it with loads of different driving styles and seems the smoking has stopped...Well i cant see anything out the back when ive been killing it,So il just keep a eye on it....

Also Seems when i get to Around 10psi In W.O.T it splutters and misses..So im guessing coilpack?
