By the way mate, think i've decided what i'm gonna do.
Get a 1.4 16v Leon, with cupra r body kit and some 18's (with your help finding the bodykit if you don't mind as your house is a 15 second walk from mine!) as insurance is around £500 more*** for the year for the 1.9, which is basically the price of making the car nice etc, and the car themselves are cheaper with lower mielage.
I will keep all the standard stuff too, and this would mean i could make it standard again when it comes to selling, and when i get a years no claims, i will get a 110 TDI, and this would mean i have everything ready to get rolling round with the big speeds straight away in a years time or so! it also means that i will be used to the way they drive, and have a real nice first car. Do you think this is a good plan?

You'll find the difference in driving styles from a 1.4 petrol to a 1.9 diesel quite different... I know I did... totally different power bands, and you'll have to drive it a lot different.

Ye mate, that is a really fair point.
But if we take note of the ohther 2 points, i will already have the bodykit, wheels etc, which will in the long term save me a lot of money. I will also be paying £500 less for the insurance on the 1.4 16v compared to the 1.9 90 diesel, and this buys me my 18's

lol careful with 18's... they are gunna cause some problems, and you'll need spacers and other things...

But 18's would look mint, and theres so many people with Leon's around where i live, i'm sure if i throw some money at em they wouldn't mind giving me a hand.

Only need spacers if you have a cupra r and are putting wheels with small offset over the brembos, ive got 18s and are fine, so has many other people without problems

In my honest opinion mate, you can get the tdi insurance than the 1.4 petrol, have a shop around, if it was my plan, i would be going for the 1.9tdi straight away mate, nice and economical too. Cheaper in the long run too ![[B)]](/forums/styles/seatcupra/oldforumsmileys/shades.gif "Cool [B)]")

Oh hell yeah. The money you'll save in fuel will easily pay for the insurance!
I used to plough £40 a week into my fiesta... Now I put less than £60 a month in my SE 110 and I do more milage!

Ok cool. The only issue is that i'm getting the insurance in 'MY OWN NAME' with no multicar discount or anything and this is a real pain in the arse. It means i'm paying 1.5k + because all of us 17 year olds go out and write off our cars instantly, with no exceptions, which is complete bollocks. Who are good insurance companies to try out from your previous experience?

Get a TDI110 mate, i get 55mpg and it goes up when your lighter on the "go pedal"
Wont need spacers on either a 1.4 or 1.9tdi, for 18's, Just make sure you get the right offset. 8J is your perfect width for the wheel, with 225/40/18. No rubbing, no scrubbing, no problems

Yeah mate, get a 110tdi then you wont have any problems, ive had nearly every problem with mine haha so you wouldnt go wrong
Oh and another small update, ordered my turbo outlet pipe from sfs today through AmD cant wait to get that on. Then i can fit the 1.8t pancake pipe and thats all the stock intercooler pipework gone and only stock intercooler left. Next is fmic and the extra pipework

Ok so i got some insurance quotes using 'Endsleigh' who always come up cheapest on comparethemarket, and here's the outcomes. Tell me what you think i should do now that you know these prices, baring in mind i need to buy alloys and cupra r bodykit, and it will be a first car!
